England Euro 2016 Squad

For me, the key player for England is Eric Dier. He's the only English player of this generation with any positional sense, so he's the only thing holding the shape of the midfield together (a lot like Gaz Baz was before him and Hargreaves before him). If he doesn't play then we will be all over the place with a hideously unbalanced collection of box to box midfielders.

Also, if Rooney plays then we are already starting with our hands tie behind our backs. Either we have him as a lone striker instead of Kane or Vardy, which would be an absolute joke, or we go two up front just to accommodate him and sacrifice any chance we have of winning the midfield, while still leaving out a better striker in place of him.

the squad is tailor-made for a three at the back system with two up front.

we have two really good strikers in kane and vardy, two fullbacks in rose and walker who i would argue would thrive better as wing-backs, and because we also have a central defense that isn't quite of the quality of our forward players we should make up for it by playing three of defenders with dier protecting them in front.

Well at least Wilshire is there to give the medical staff something to do. Picking Rashford is just a bloody joke.
 
Light at CB, yeah Dier could fill in but has been playing in midfield all season.

Would have dropped one of the fullbacks instead (Bertrand), you don't need 4 specialist ones as Clyne can play both sides and Milner, Stones can also play fullback.

I think it's a good shout picking rashford. He's an unknown quantity in europe, he's young and fast and has an eye for goal. Why not take him? I just hope he isn't going over there just to make the numbers up. Him, vardy, Kane and sturridge as the four? I'd go with that.
