If he goes to Utd he'll start. At City the No. 1 defender will be Kompany and I thought we were in for Laporte too? Then there's Otamendi and maybe Mangala. And Stones will know that Mourinho has been in for him for a while.

Nope. I am a fan too.
He's had a poor season or you could say he's had a season he seriously needs to learn from! He's been poorly managed in my opinion, but all his errors can be coached out of him.
He has a touch of real class about him at times that you rarely see in a CB and I don't mean how he is on the ball, he defends with swagger and calmness too. But like I said this season he has just proven that he needs guidance and more coaching, something Martinez didn't do!

Think it speaks volumes that pep is a fan and so too is Mourinho. 2 top managers that set teams up very differently and also expect totally different things from their defenders yet both seem to really want him!

Has had an indifferent season in a poor team he didn't really want to play for.
The best English defender with the ball at his feet and therefore right up Guatdiola's street.
Must signing.

Totally agree mate, similar in a lot of ways to Pique on the ball.This lad will be our CB for the next ten years-just needs a good coach behind him, Id say Pep and even PEG are a better judge of a footballer than us mere mortals on a football forum.

Defender has a poor season under Martinez shocker, a manager who has never had his teams set up defensively correct in his whole managerial career.
 
Has all the tools to become an all time English great, why the hell wouldn't you want that at City? It's about time we had our own English legend, all the "big clubs" in England have one and we need one.

Could argue Joe Hart but do you really think he'll go down as an England legend?

Also have Denayer coming back from loan too. For me, if the rumours of who we are linked with is true, it all points to playing 3 at the back with wing backs.

He's struggled this season but he was very good in the FA Cup semi, and I can see why we might go for him, but we might not be the only ones.

I don't know anything about Denayer. Hoping to find out in the Euros

There is more chance Hart could become an England legend. It is partly dependent on the England team finding success in tournaments. Stones is not even well regarded by fans of his own club, that watch him week in, week out. He has some promise but is completely unproven as a world class/ top defender. Even Messi has praised Hart as being a world class keeper.

Not interested in where they were born. Aguero and Vinny proved that nationality doesn't come into ability and will to win

He has all the right attributes to make it at the top and what I like about him is that he refuses to change his style of play despite criticism. Yes you want a defender that can defend primarily but Stones can do that and reads the game very well. Otamendi might look good on youtube with his slide tackles etc but good defenders shouldn't have to make those last ditch tackles. When Kompany is in form he just takes a few steps in a direction and bosses the opposing striker and wins the ball, he's a fortress. Stones has that ability in him over time and he's so composed on the ball in a side like ours he can excel with other technically gifted players around him.
