Before Euros. Isn't that what Pep wanted with his transfers?
It's what all managers want, but it doesn't usually happen. What I did wonder is, our financial year ends at the end of May so if we want the summer transfers on next years books when the increased income is counted, and not this years. Do we need to wait until next week to put them through the books?

I'm no expert but I think the financial impact of buying a player is spend out over the length of the contract so dont think that will make much difference...

I'm no expert either, but 2 or 3 signings could easily add up to 100 mill so even over 5 years that would be £20 mill on the books and for the sake of waiting a week it might be a consideration. Just a thought.

It does for reporting and for FFP. However, contracts and fees would only come into effect from the opening of the transfer window so it's a non issue

I agree mate.....Ajm1985 just mentioned something that might clear it up for you.....As any signings wont be registered by the team until transfer window opens in July.....we'll be fine...

If they threw in Leighton Baines as part of the price I'd be interested. In fact if they take Kolarov and Mangala as a straight swap then it's good business all round.

I will be very surprised if we take on the Premier League with Stones as one of our main cbs unless we play 3 there.

If I was a betting man I think that's exactly what he's going to do mate, seems odd that we dont seem to chasing fullbacks but seem on the cusp of bringing two CB's in

Vinny, Denayer, Stones, Laporte, Otomendi gives us options with Vinny being a big question mark fitness wise.

Stones operates better on the right of the defense, possibly even as a RB in a four if needed.

I'm sure Everton turned down a 40mil bid last summer from Chelsea, so I'm guessing its going to take atleast that to make this happen.....Laporte has a 39mil release clause so I would think it would be easier to get that deal done but we dont know if Stones is Pep's main target out of the two....

Well if its true that he only wants us then I hope we put £30m in with £10m add ons! After a poor season he's not really worth anymore!

Baines is similar to Zabba, age has caught up with him

The point is, it's all 'maybe'.

Guardiola etc maybe think he will 'become' a great defender. And 'maybe' the reason he isn't one, is someone else's fault.

Of course it could be that he is what he is, & will continue to be found out, for the rest of his career, like David Luiz. Neither Pep nor Mourinho know the answer to that. Whoever signs him is gambling on him becoming a different player, not signing him because of the player he actually is now.
But who is a better judge. You and the above opinion or Pep and Josecunt.

If it is true that he has his heart set on coming to City then I just love that. He would get paid the same if not more at the scum or chelski, plus he wouldn't have to fight for his place at either of those clubs but instead he wants to come to us. Shows he isn't scared of having to work hard for his place in the squad and shows he has real ambition. I've changed my mind about Stones, I will give Pep a call and tell him to go ahead ;)
