Never Said Isco is a bad Footballer, you are right he is very good,

but Pogba is the physical presence we need thats all i'm saying. You cant have an orchestra of 11 wind instruments without some percussion.

tell me a team that is succesful that does not have a physical presence in the midfield
Busquets - Xavi - Iniesta hardly physical I would say.

Where does this "if we can't get Pogba we should get Isco" idea come from?

They're absolutely world's apart in playing styles, Isco has had two chances to join us and has turned us down on both occasions.

The first time he understandably decided to join Madrid and the second time he was smart enough to not want to be around for Manuel's last six months.

Third time's a charm.

absolutely. who would you like to have behind he and gundo?
Dihno or Gundogan as the DM. I really don't buy the "we need a Kanteish DM" line. I think Gundogan is our Starting DM if we get another CM like a Isco or Pogba. I think the middle 3 is Gundogan, Isco, DeBryune. With Silva and Dihno subbing in for any of those 3.

Fair enough but personally, I
prefer a central midfield 2 of Pogba and
Gundogan with Pogba doing the defensive
bit more often and a reversal of the roles when we play against '10-0-0' type teams. I know this might restrict Pogbas natural game but I reckon he'll have more than enough opportunity to play further
forward as as time goes by just like Vidal with Juve and now bayern . I'd also like to have Isco plus another in attack playing on either side of KDB

I'm Sorry 2 of those 3 midfielders are two of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game, couple that with a guy who is actually reasonably physical (not Yaya) but is extremely aggressive, and you don't need that type of physicality when you are playing in a league like Spain, and their lack of Physicality was another reason they lost to Bayern 7-0 on aggregate.

No I'm not. But the question at hand was about midfield lineup that is successful but lacks physicality.
Appologies, I totally misread your post. Do you think a midfield like that, talented as it undoubtedly is, would succeed in such a physically competitive league as the Premiership though?

For argument's sake let's just say that the physicality is important on the defensive side instead of the offensive.

With that said I am a firm believer that in defending, positioning matters more than physicality. If you are in the right position, there's no need for you to sprint around making tackles. Cannavaro (only recent Ballon d' Or winner who plays a defender) is only 5'9", not muscular either. He's hardly a physical beast.

You mentioning the 7-0 loss is beside the point because those are just 2 matches out of the other hundreds that they won.

We had quite a 'physical lineup' when we met Barca in the CL. Rest assured we got whooped pretty bad by their non-physical lineup.

I am sure the PL is much more physical than the other league but good footballers I think can adapt themselves. And with great positioning awareness, I'm sure the lack of physique can be made up somehow.

And when they won the whole thing 2ice previously. Where was their lack of Physicality then?

The pointing out of an anomaly is a cop out. It had nothing to do with Physicality. They simply had a bad outing and lost. They ran United and it's Physical English sttled power team ragged at Wembley. Playing multiple players out of position to boot.

Different teams use different styles. Their is no staple full proof style. It is simply philosophy and not fact.

Why? If you're sick of this rumour, God knows how you dealt with the KDB and ongoing Pogba threads.

When it comes to City, like many, I've dealt with far worse than forum threads. I just find the constant return to this particular rumour incredibly obsessive on the part of a varied minority.

That works too. Even though I think you get more out of both with Gundogan running pivot. And Pogba adding edge.

So what? No one is forcing to view this thread. Let people speculate on a possible transfer all they please.

I can't believe anyone really thinks he is coming, it's just a return to what was a really fun thread, imo of course
