Keith Curle

I love that vid.
I'm behind that goal with a neck brace after writing my car off earlier in the day. 5000 all jumping up at exactly the same time

Those 2 Derbys after we came up in 89 were great there. The brightwell one and this one. Was bedlam in that away end both years. Still can't believe white missed the sitter at the end. Loads of city in the corner of the Stretford end. Being kept in and given Elon Wesley shit loads. Top days!!

My favourite player at the time.
He was so quick, it was unreal. I remember his debut at Coventry. He was up against Kevin Gallagher, who was meant to be rapid. The ball was played over the top and City fans presumed Gallagher would run on to it and score.
Curle saw it and absolutely ruined him for pace. £2.5m well spent.

White and Wayne Clarke both missed sitters towards the end of that game. I remember watching the game when I got home when White somehow fluffed his chance and after he missed it a City fan at the front of the Scoreboard End could clearly be seen to be mouthing "knob" at him!

You have a better memory than me son!! The White chance I had nightmares about until the 6 1. Don't remember the Clarke chance

I've been racking my brains and I don't believe we have. Funny that.

I think the Wayne Clarke sitter was during the Brightwell "I just wellied it" 1-1 draw in 1990. That was the season when the attendance was higher for the Maine Road derby than the Old Trafford derby (although you're wasting your breath trying to get a rag to admit it).

White missed a sitter after the Curle equalizer, and so did Fitzroy Simpson.

This was the midweek after City had done United a huge favour by beating Leeds 4-0. United were 2 points ahead with two games in hand, but blew it big time

We seemed to be obsessed with buying defenders from Wimbledon in the late 80s,early 90s .
To be fair Keith Curle was a very good centre back .
It's just a shame we never got a decent partner for him .
The worst thing Peter Reid did was let Colin Hendry leave .

Good player but remember him for 3 things

Carrying that lad back to half way line after scoring at the swamp

Head butting incident with Asprialla

Pointing to the fucking goal for Giggs to shoot

On your last point, I go against the grain. I'm 100% convinced he was pointing to Immel and saying 'watch the near post'. I've thought it from the day it happened, I can't believe he would invite Giggs to shoot knowing we had Immel in net

For the brightwell (I just wellied it) goal I'm in the united end, paddock behind the city dug out. As brightwell runs to the dug out the camera pans in my direction and there I am , a 16 year old lone blue celebrating.
