Amazing how many come out now saying they didnt want him anyway and are now stating that Mangala and Otamendi are good enough anyway.

Don't think the club did either. Sounds like a last-minute change of heart.

why do target player like these i wonder sometimes , him , Isco . We know about Isco now , a part time player at Madrid despite winning trophies axed for Euros

Disappointing in a way as the lad is a talented and has potential to be world class. However, he wants to stay in Bilbao. Maybe he is waiting for a Barca or Real to sign him. Maybe he doesn't fancy trying his luck over here.

If we do get Stones, I would not be too gutted at missing out as I wouldn't have wanted two new, young defenders who have yet to play at the sharp end - fighting for the league and CL - playing at the heart of our defence.

Other opportunities will present themselves.

Txiki pulling a blinder, as per.

I agree, wouldnt be the first time mate. I got to be honest, dont have much confidence in him after the results of the past few transfer windows(other than Kev!) and for allowing us to get old and slow at a number of positions...just want him to prove me wrong!! So far we pulled out of the race for Pogba after 2 summers of chasing, missed on Laporte after 2 summers of chasing......sorry got to type this to get it out of my system!;)

He wasn't prepared to submit a demand to leave and invoke his buyout clause.
Fair play to him to have loyalty to the club (not that his club will have loyalty to him beyond the end of his new contract).

It could still happen as Fernando caved in before he came to us from Porto the following summer, but in reality €70 MILLION is far too much money for us to come back with an offer.

That said, in many respects, this is good news as it gives Jason Denayer a chance of making it at City - a player who I really think is class.
