Respect for the player's loyalty to his club.
The last 2 seasons have really hurt us, had we won title last season or even season before (14/15) think our profile would be better.Indeed. Watch loads will say he is shite anyways. Especially the ones that have never seen him play and got their brains turned by media reports.
Btw even with Pep we are still not one of the major attractions for players. But we move forward as we have been doing over the last 8 years.
Just my opinion but we could have activated his release clause at any time...the longer you leave it the longer a young kid is going to start having doubts.....We signed Gundogan while he was injured, no reason to not have done the same with Laporte...he's been back running for nearly a month!...guess I'll calm down after typing this but feel we were slow, to slow in getting this deal done and its given his current club a window to get back into the race....
Now we really need to get Stones

Just throwing this out there, but wonder if we'd had the results of the medical back and wanted to pay fee in instalments?
How about we have taken a look at his medical results/scenario from his injury and walked away at the price given and moved on to other targets hence his sudden loyalty?
But don't City usually brief the press if that would be the case? Ric just said that it seems he changed his mind at last minute. How about we have taken a look at his medical results/scenario from his injury and walked away at the price given and moved on to other targets hence his sudden loyalty?
Out of all the transfers that could've potentially fizzled out, this is the one im least bothered by. I was never keen on getting 2 new CB's when we have Kompany, Otamendi, Mangala (who might now have a chance) and Denayer in the wings. Bring Stones in, give Denayer his chance. We have a wealth of CB's at the moment, especially if we pull the trigger on Stones, Laporte clearly didn't have the mentality; He's not going to win anything with Bilbao.
We don't pay the release clause, only the player can do that, so if we agreed to pay it , it would still be up to the player and he obviously wasn't sure, hence we gave him a deadline. Nothing to do with us being slow, we offered to pay his release a while ago.
is there anything you like about this club?Txiki pulling a blinder, as per.
