Holy shit, if people can't deal with the ITK culture then get off the internet or at the very least just bookmark mcfc.co.uk and get off the transfer forum.

People need to understand that we couldn't have just triggered the clause. Only the player can do that. The club gives the player the money to do so. If he didn't want to come, we weren't going to drop however many millions into his account.

Indeed. Watch loads will say he is shite anyways. Especially the ones that have never seen him play and got their brains turned by media reports.

Btw even with Pep we are still not one of the major attractions for players. But we move forward as we have been doing over the last 8 years.
The last 2 seasons have really hurt us, had we won title last season or even season before (14/15) think our profile would be better.

Just my opinion but we could have activated his release clause at any time...the longer you leave it the longer a young kid is going to start having doubts.....We signed Gundogan while he was injured, no reason to not have done the same with Laporte...he's been back running for nearly a month!...guess I'll calm down after typing this but feel we were slow, to slow in getting this deal done and its given his current club a window to get back into the race....

Txiki pulling a blinder, as per.

Stones and Denayer is more than enough on top of the current centre back options we have.

Money can be spent on a couple of full backs.

How about we have taken a look at his medical results/scenario from his injury and walked away at the price given and moved on to other targets hence his sudden loyalty?

But don't City usually brief the press if that would be the case? Ric just said that it seems he changed his mind at last minute.

Out of all the transfers that could've potentially fizzled out, this is the one im least bothered by. I was never keen on getting 2 new CB's when we have Kompany, Otamendi, Mangala (who might now have a chance) and Denayer in the wings. Bring Stones in, give Denayer his chance. We have a wealth of CB's at the moment, especially if we pull the trigger on Stones, Laporte clearly didn't have the mentality; He's not going to win anything with Bilbao.

I was concerned about buying another injured player who we couldn't put through a strict medical - he wasn't cheap

We don't pay the release clause, only the player can do that, so if we agreed to pay it , it would still be up to the player and he obviously wasn't sure, hence we gave him a deadline. Nothing to do with us being slow, we offered to pay his release a while ago.

Cheers mate....This is just a very frustrating one to miss....He would have been a big upgrade on what we have and would have fit pep's system perfectly.....It is possible we does misread the signs? This is the 2nd year we tried to sign him?.....Hoping for some good transfer news soon....No Pogba, No Laporte wasnt what I was expecting for the start of the transfer window!;)

looking like we are going to end up buying a lot of 2nd choice players this pre season, not what we need right now this has cost us in the past. To get the best we need to start paying the best.
