Here we go my arse. I know plenty of SNP voters who voted out yesterday and are mystified and little bit embarrassed by Surgoens stance on wanting independence from Westminster yet wanting to jump into bed with Brussels.

Embarrassing and an admittance that an independent Scotland would need propping up financially by someone, even if it means its the EU.

A vote for independence has nothing to do with Sturgeon or the fucking SNP. It's about time folk realised that, especially people up here who voted no because they didn't want Salmond running the country. That's a short sighted and down right stupid outlook to have.

The SNP supporters you know who voted leave are likely supporters of control as close to home as possible. Downing Street is a bit closer than Brussels at least, but it's time for Scotland to go it alone.

Our needs and concerns are obviously different from yours.

That alone should have encouraged people to vote leave:-) a bluemoon poll that was correct who'd have thought it.

If ever there was proof that their fans are plastic glory hunters from all over the place then this is it. Remember it well.

Good luck guys - I sincerely hope this doesn't go the way all the experts predict but I guess we will find out who is right .

Now the next fight starts the battle between the brexiters who want a renegotiated Europe and the Ukippers who want shot .

From deep in my heart I hope this doesn't pan out as I suspect and this will be a renegotiation and not the full stuffing and cranberry scenario.

Good post - what is really really needed is for the will of the people to be respected and calm heads to plan the way forward

What I suspect will happen will be that so many key players will spend (waste) the next days in denial and trying to blame the result on specific issues such as immigration rather than we - as a country - have rejected the federalism that the EU leaders are hell-bent on

What Cameron decides to do personally will give us some indication - if he stays we should worry that there are machinations towards a 2nd referendum

Looks like Bluemoon has its finger on the pulse.

What I hope is that this is the start of rolling back the frontiers of the EU and the vanity project that it's become. Hopefully there will be a return to a common market, which doesn't need a common fiscal policy, doesn't need the Euro, doesn't need the wholesale movement of money to countries that will never amount to much and doesn't need free movement of labour.

Also those chinless wonders Dave & George have signed their own political death warrants. Dave used the offer of a referendum to get himself elected and now it's jumped up and smacked him in the face. As the legend that is Walter Smith would say "Take it, take it, take it. All. Day. Long."

Sarah Woolaston...the Brexiter that changed sides to remain now trying to get the egg off her face. Loving' it.

I voted Remain, but along with a good 15-20% of the electorate or so (according to opinions that I've canvased) I'm not that disappointed in the outcome.
Anyone who thinks dumping population equivalent to a City the size of Nottingham on the UK every year WITHOUT UP FRONT investment of at least 5 times the first year's additional tax take on national infrastructure is living in fairy land.
Quite simply big business wants a free lunch of cheap Labour without paying for it. Indeed it goes out if it's way to not pay its share of tax.

The people of Scotland voted against independence and last night, over a Million Scots voted to leave the EU, its that simple.

The SNP has no mandate to demand and referendum again on independence and it has no right to claim its speaks for everyone living and working in Scotland either.

A party that has successfully picked on the bones of a broken labour movement up here and fair play to them but that's where it ends.

Again, dont want to be told what to do by Westminster despite having a say in what happens but happy to be told what to do by some unelected folk in Brussels?

You couldn't make it up.

There is neither the political will to be independent right now nor the finances to do so either, its that simple.
