Their scouting team gives me the impression that they sign any player that's hyped in the league, but is obvious to the masses that aren't good enough. From Carroll to Benteke.

It's also a reflection of a club having hardly any Champions League football over the past few years. One year out of it might not be disaster but to be out of it for long periods has a negative effect.
Liverpool are for want of a better phrase trying to buy the of the rest. It is very rare you hear of Liverpool fighting for a player with another club. They know they'll lose if they go toe to toe with Us, Chelsea, Arsenal or United so they shop in a different market. That's not say some of their signings aren't good, but the bigger clubs would see these players as squad additions as a pose to Liverpool banking on them.

Same! I have a £100 bet with a rag that we finish above them. easiest £100 I think I will ever make
