Right now, he can't get past his own party vote who'll oust him before the wider membership can vote for him.

The party votes internally to narrow it down to two candidates, then asks the members to vote between the final two. Boris would not have made the final two.

As for Gove. I feel positively sick at the idea of Gove as PM. Every bit as obnoxious as Farage in my eyes.

I agree, but I also think Cameron dealt him a curved ball by resigning. I think Boris was expecting Cameron to have to deal with all inevitable the shit flying around over the EU negotiations and it's come as a bit of a shock to him that potentially it would have been him having to do it. I genuinely don't think he was expecting to be PM any time soon, and that's why he's appeared so clueless since Thursday.

As Gove was a Brexiter and is apparently seen as an intellectual powerhouse within the party, that would make sense. The thought of him in the top job though makes my skin crawl.
