TV Series

Just watching Vikings series 4 and to me it seems to have really lost its way. Stories all seem to have drifted apart and come disjointed and can't really see where the plot os heading.

I still love it but I can imagine its difficult for them to write, they're combining events that in real life happened over a much longer time period.

Not if any of you know (or care!), but there's been a reboot of the 70's mini series "Roots".

There is no reason to believe that any or many of you watched it as young kids/ adults, but it had a profound effect on me as a child as my first introduction to the Slave Trade. I don't remember the start of the show, but I suspect some new added elements have been made to round out the beginning.

Yeah I think it's leading to a confused story line. It's almost like 2 storylines now and really nothing to do with Vikings when focusing on England. The story of the Vikings seems to be stalling as well, looks like it's back to Paris they go.

Compulsive viewing in our house. It was the only thing my mum and dad would let me stay up for on a school night to watch, and every kid at school would be talking about it the next day.
Don't think I'll bother with the reboot because I seriously doubt they could come close to the original.

The acting is not great in the beginning, but you kind of get over that in the 1st episode, and then the flailing happens and I felt sick again.

It's done enough to earn an episode two from me.

If you know your history, or have access to google you will realise why they are keeping the English thread alive.

Yeah, should have watched it then, myself, but was too afraid it would be shit! It's much better than I expected! 8-9 out of 10 on average for ratings I've seen and yeah, honourable mention to Forrest Whitaker.

Keeps it grounded.

Season 2 starts airing from a week tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what direction they take with it.
Ye I binged watched it on holiday so I hope to be able to do the same next week, I tend to save series until they are done now it's much better than trying to remember what happens week to week.

Has it stared yet ?

It starts in October. I think they first filmed it in 2014 though, its took fucking ages to air. Might be a bad sign, but the cast is terrific and they have given little away in trailers really but just imagining what a tv show could be like given the concept of the original movie wets my appetite enormously.
