Bonucci - World class CB and a LEADER.
Kompany always injured.
i can see Bonucci as the replacement, if Kompany still injured next season.
Yaya, Hart & Kolarov are no captain material. doesn't influence enough.
they failed to motivate team, inspire young player & lack of intelligence.

Yep fu@@ it get him in then :)
I've stirred it up enough now going to get ready to watch the tennis
I just wish he was 26

Ah the academy , Chelsea have just won the youth cup 2 years running and hardly anybody makes the first team ,again I hope you're right .i agree it is very impressive but where does this leave our academy product Denayer .
This is another argument though

I've watched Denayer play about 20 times (About 10 for Celtic, 5 for Galatasaray and every Belgium appearance (7, some subs appearances)) and he certainly isn't ready for a starting squad role at the moment. More likely to be rotated into the team for lesser cup matches. Chelsea had a manager with a poor track record for youth development, add to that too many players, meaning some players that were good enough got lost in their system and sent out on loan.

Also bear in mind Kompany was only involved in 22 games last year and a few of those were him going off injured and barely playing. So Bonucci will make us less reliant on Kompany, who has been great for us and won us titles but whose fitness has also probably cost us a league title in the time he's been here.

I was pretty sceptical about this rumour at first, but it seems to be gathering momentum. Will be a great signing if we manage to pull it off.

If we were to add Bonucci then we'd have him, Kompany, Otamendi, Mangala and Denayer who could play centre half. A lot will depend on the formation we play (Guardiola has been known to utilise 3 at the back) but 5 centre halves does seem like 1 too many. Kompany is a bit of a liability fitness wise these days so maybe that's the thought process here, or maybe we'll be looking to let someone leave. You'd suspect that Mangala will be the one most at risk. He's no longer a "young" player given he's 25 so there should be a degree of reliability there by now, and his performances should probably have reached higher level by this stage.

A lot of us said we needed a top quality centre half, and Bonucci would certainly fit the bill, it will be interesting to see, if he does join us, what impact it will have on the other options.

Could we see Kompany used as a CDM in light of his injury record? Or one of the others maybe if Kompany can keep fit

I take it Stones will be staying at Everton? A second year of wanting out with no fee agreed must be depressing for the young man. Heavily stacked in that area of the pitch, can't see us taking both at them prices.

Hearing anything @Ric? Considering the size of the bid, Bonucci seems to be THE player Pep wants.

If he's that loyal, we wouldn't be bidding for him. The club isn't going to go through painful negotiations with Juventus only to get rejected by the player.

Did we not also go the tried and tested route with Lescott, Kolo and Otamendi? - There's another £60m there.

I'm not sure it's an age thing. That kid we signed from Hamburg in 08 was decent.

Lescott and Kolo were nothing more than proven Prem players when we bought them, nobody would have ever said that they were world class. Even so you could argue that "they did a job". I think with Otamendi there is a good defender in there somewhere and hopefully under Pep he will look the player we thought we were buying.

I dont think its an age thing either, the problem for me is that centre back is a specialised position where experience plays a big part. Is Mangala the complete dud he looks? I dont think he is but we dont have time to stand by him and wait until he reaches 28 to see the best of him.

We know what Bonucci offers, yes hes 29 but he is world class and has been for a number of years. People seem to have forgotten the absolute car crash that was our central defence last season. If he is a available we would be mad to pass up the opportunity

No way! I love Bonucci this has made my day :)

I agree with a lot of what you're saying - and I'm 100% behind this transfer, I just don't think the issue with our CB's is age and that's what i was trying to point out.

I would love Bonucci here.

Just popped on to say i am seeing this fella being linked with us now all over the shop so maybe time to see what is going on in here.
Personally i thought we had as much chance of nelson getting his eye back as we did of getting him from Juve but if we did then wow.
A 29yo Italian defender has a good solid 5 years left at the top of his game history seems to show so hopefully this applies to him also.

Saw what pep had to say about Vinny, it's clear his injuries are a big concern... And that's why we are going for Bonucci...

Interesting where this leaves stones... Mangala leaving now I think.. For some reason... I want him to stay and learn from pep....

No guarantee it will happen, of course, but I do think our interest is genuine. Too many sources are reporting it, and City haven't briefed any denials as far as I can tell.

Presumably it wouldn't have got to this stage unless the player was open to the move. Remains to be seen whether or not Juve will sell though.

is that based on the recent articles or have you heard owt mate

Sometimes the old adage "no smoke without fire" is more than just convenient.
That is how i am taking it anyway. A random naughty twitter account takes longer to disperse across the web in general, just a strange feeling in my arsehole really mate for what it is worth :-D

Ric are you still getting info yourself these days? Sometimes difficult to tell if what you post in personal opinion or inside stuff!
