Don't forget we have 2 champs league games to play as well so don't want to over do it so earlyDefinitely feel we needed another friendly, 3 seems too few, especially given that the first one essentially just featured kids. Would be nice to watch but oh well, just glad we're getting more matches in.
Hah this was good for a chuckle. We've not even signed the player and we're making him a Saint???
Yep. But could argue the opposite, some important games very early so we need to be prepared.Don't forget we have 2 champs league games to play as well so don't want to over do it so early
?Just about sums up our shambolic pre season preparations.

It's a shame really, we should have played it at our youth stadium, we probably would have got around 5k people paying to go, could have raised a few thousand for our charties etc...As a saints fan this is rare occasion for us to be able to play against a world class side, disappointing that its a closed door game as i would have certainly made the trip down to manchester. However i think that the game is to be played behind closed doors as utd are playin at old trafford on wednesday night.
I doubt the club had much choice, don't the police and possibly the council need 10 days notice of any public "event" at the Etihad or Academy stadiums? It's a shame really, we should have played it at our youth stadium, we probably would have got around 5k people paying to go, could have raised a few thousand for our charties etc...
For a club that's achieved so much over the past few years, I get the impression they don't 'get' football that much.
Don't bite. Aparently, according to the same poster, we're "a million miles away from being champions".
You think pre seasons preparations been good Jim ?Don't bite. Aparently, according to the same poster, we're "a million miles away from being champions".

I don't take a blind bit of notice of pre season. IIRC, the pre season back in one of the two title seasons (2011?) wasn't too brilliant, but the season didn't turn out too bad. We got beat against Bayern (with none of the Euro 2016 players on show) and snared a win yesterday against a middling decent side. Not too shabby. As for the transfer business, they always seem to drag on, and not just with us. Look at the vermin; the Pogba deal is taking an eternity to sort out, also the Mail are reporting today that PEG is looking to move on nine players. If true, why wait until now?The last campaign ended over two months back. You think pre seasons preparations been good Jim ?

I have no worries about that; Pep has made it perfectly clear where he stands on that score. The players know full well what's expected of them; witness his comments on Nasri yesterday, when he didn't try to use some injury as an excuse not to play him. He said straight out that Nasri had come back overweight.I agree Jim when it comes to results but it's critical for fitness & conditioning. It's that aspect that's making me nervous
