According to numerous articles this Morning.

Think it's a good idea if true?

Sure the players would rather stay at home with their partners and families instead of staying in a Hotel room.

Saw that on Twitter earlier. I didn't realise they stayed in the hotel overnight, I thought they just met up on the morning of the match. The Malmaison (London Road), isn't it?

I questioned at the time whether staying at the CFA was a good idea. I can see that there will be occasions when it will be very useful eg if we return from a trip abroad at 3 am, or if we are making an early departure. But I cant see how it helps the players to be cooped up for very long periods. Acute boredom cant be good preparation, nor having one of your team mates getting on your nerves with their annoying habits. Presumably there will be the option for players to stay there overnight if they wish eg if they have very young kids, or are single and want some company.

Seems like a very sensible change.

Much better to have the players staying at home and relaxing.

The only new temptaions being, a late night, a pizza, a swift pint or glass of wine, and some of you know what. ;-)

They (yep, them again!) always used to say that a little of what you fancy does you good. And anyway; it's only 5 minutes. No great physical exertion there!

well, do you want a happy relaxed player who might possibly a have a wee drinkie and a pizza or a possibly frustrated and resentful player who definitely wont have anything bad for him the night before?

personally i think if you give people responsibility and respect, they respond like adults. Those who don't get sold.

Taking into account our home record since the overnight stay at hotels was introduced I'd say this was an excellent idea! It must make it feel like an away game to the players in some ways.

It was less than brilliant last season. Didn't we lose more home games last season than in the previous 3 or 4 combined?

I dont know if this is good or not. I would have thought more team get togethers are good, but there again that's a lot of build up for the game each week. Maybe it is part of letting the team decide things more for themselves, empowering them etc

Not sure about this let the players eat what they want go to bed at what time they want deal with what ever family issues are going on,the night before a game when you would have thought they wanted focus and feeding vitamins and health stuff and a good nights kip.
Then after a game banning pizza etc when they haven't a game for 3days .making them eat at the ground away from their families on the one night a week they probably would have gone out with them.
Seems totally back to front to me but I'm not a football managet

Its called TRUST.Not all 17/18 players will be scoffing all sorts the night before and for those that do,maybe that will show in their performance the next day.Only they will know if they`ve sinned. But Pep will have a good idea.A good shout from our Manager.

Very true oakie. Treating them like adults.

I guess there's no right or wrong approach to this, it's just down to individual manager's choices. It didn't work too well for us last season, so probably worth trying something different!

Agree wholeheartedly with this, there's no need to treat the players like kids that need babysitting. They all spend enough time together already and know how to look after themselves.

I suspect that, as Pep was a top player himself, and given the good relations he enjoys with most of his players, he knows full well what players would prefer before a home game.

In Pep I Trust...

The point I'm making is we are prepared to trust the players 100% before a game to be in peak form and state of mind but we arnt prepared to trust them after a game not to over do the pizza.
In my limited opinion if your taking this sports science diet thing seriously I would of thought you would of wanted your player at his peak on match day not after the game.
