John Stones

The way our defence was left open by Manuels crap systems and selections I have no doubt we will have a better defence whether we get Stones or not.

If we have a good system one the players have confidence in we`ll improve dramatically

With question marks over Clichy, Delph and even Hart are there many homegrown players you'd want in a CL challenging squad come next season?

If we secure Stones, with Sterling we only need find 2 more hg (not club trained) players of which only really Dier and maybe Kane stand out as at the level we'd be after. Of course we hope our kids come through but i can see why Stones is so important to us.

A week ago this would have made me rather excited, but now I've grown cold and no longer think he is needed. I think we are fine with who we have in the back and would rather keep the 40-50 million and avoid all the press over another record for a defender who still needs to improve a lot to be considered a top defender.

We must have a backup option(might even be one of our own, could be a foreign option), that would be the only smart strategy... bluffing with so much at stake for the season when we need to strengthen at CB would be unwise to say the least. With that in mind I hope that a) If we do buy we come out of it with our heads held high b) If we walk we leave ourselves enough time to negotiate the other option.

No. 33.

Who cares ? He's a football genius right ? Wheras Lescott loses the ball all the time.
When Aguero scored that famous winner against QPR i was happy for all the obvious reasons, but also because he saved Lescott from being remembered as the man who lost City the title. A good servant who was nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe.

Stones is imminently imminent then? Sounds good to me. Whatever I think about his potential weaknesses or value I will forget about it all as soon as I see him wearing the blue shirt and I'm sure 90% of you will feel the same.
