Mancini said many times towards the end of the 2012 season, that "The time to strengthen is when you're on top.

Nobody in there right mind could possibly believe that Sinclair & Rodwell were ever going to be, at best, adequate replacement for the departing NDJ or Tevez (and I don't believe Mancini did either, he may have had his faults, but he certainly wasn't a fool).

He let it be known, through the press which 3 or 4 players he wanted, and in the end didn't even get one of ''em.

Whether, as Karen says, this was all part of Txiki's master plan to force him out, (Because a few precious Marde arses in the 2012 squad had objected to double training sessions) we'll never know. but it's my firm belief that, had the board backed him, some of the established 'stars' that were already here, had been told in no uncertain terms (by Mancini) that they were well & truely, out on their arses.

Hence the revolution prior to the
FA cup final against Wigan.

Well they won the title whilst he's done fuck all since, so well played for getting shot of him.

It's amazing no matter how many times people get corrected on this nonsense they still put it forward as a valid point of view.

In the summer of 2012 Txiki didn't work for the club. In the summer of 2012 Mancini was informed that in terms of adding to the squad there was no way more TOP wages could be added without players being moved out. IE. If you want RVP, you have to sell Dzeko or Balo. We knew that we had an FFP problem coming over the mountain and we knew that we wanted to at least attempt to pass FFP baring in mind the squad as it was had just won a title.

The problem wasn't the spending - it was the manager. Mancini fucked up the summer of 2012 himself by fighting with Marwood and acting like the prima donna he is rather than actually doing his job and identifying realistic targets who could improve the squad without demanding 200k a week or costing 40 million plus in transfer fees. All the other stuff about him being hamstrung or people working against him is embarrassing fucking bollocks which is utterly disrespectful to our owners. They decided to clip his spending wings, not Marwood not Cook and not anyone else who was working in Manchester.
If that was the case, I don't think the board were unreasonable in asking that Edin or Mario were moved on first. However, taking into account the usual "City Tax," I doubt that we were ever going to attract anyone of the required quality for less than the 40 million (or 200k a week) that you quote.

Thank you Mr Stubby Fingers.
Hate typing from the phone :P. Valid excuse? haha.

Contrary to what people think Tosin cannot slot right into the XI when the matches matter. We need Stones. A 4 of Stones, Kompany, Otamendi and Denayer/Tosin is decent.

Really - because that summer Marco Verratti moved to PSG for peanuts. Had Mancini actually been doing his job and looking for the requisite quality/value in the marketplace rather than fighting with Marwood maybe we'd have landed him. He cost considerably less than Rodwell too.

Also we had an offer that summer from PSG for Mario which was around the 50 million pound mark. Would've given Mancini all the freedom he wanted in the marketplace. Instead he wanted to keep his favourite close by. The rest as they say is history.

Got to trust peps judgement, if he wants stones, we get stones!

In an ideal world, tosin breaks through forcing manglala/otamendi out

We could see it all finally sorted by Wednesday.

Williams is really forcing the issue to get the Everton deal and Bony also fancies it.
Thanks, not just for the info but for actually talking about John Stones.

Just waded through 20 odd pages of nonsense & was coming to the end thinking I'd just wasted 5 minutes of my life looking for an update.

We certainly need to offload a few players so hopefully this can be 2 birds with 1 stones.

Maybe Everton are after this guy as replacement for Stones?

Bruno Martins Indi not present at Porto's squad presentation last night. A Bola claim Everton lead the race for him.

Just imagine if you had looked at the most recent posts 1st, like I just did, how much time you would have saved.

Is Bony actually going to be involved in the deal?

I know the story is back in the press but I thought it was previously ruled out of the equation.

if bony is involved going the other way than that just makes this all the sweeter as far as Im concerned.....we get a centre half that we definitely need and we get rid of a player who isn't going to be any use to us at all....

Plus it makes me think we will go for another forward int he transfer window as I cannot see us going into a long season with just Kun and kelechi (even with jesus joining in december/january) as that would be suicidal.

this is the transfer I've looked forward to the most all summer so hope it happens. He can and will improve as a defender but it's his ball skills that is essential to the way Pep wants to play. Shame we weren't able to land Laporte to pair with him but Stones will be a player that will be our first choice CB for next 10 years.
