City v Arsenal post match thread

FFS the pressing was just as bad as under Pellers. Aguero running his bollocks off at their fullbacks who then had easy passes cos our lot either could not or would not mark their midfielders tightly to cut off the possibility of a pass. As for Kolarov as a footballing centre half, give me strength.

Only positives from today...Sterling looked like he had his confidence back and Delph's workrate was excellent! Was worried Delph might struggle but has really shown fight and hunger since Pep arrived...great to see!

Now the negatives...

If we go into the season without atleast 1 new fullback and a CB we got trouble! Been saying it all summer, in fact most of us have been saying it for 2 summer transfer windows now....

Anyone that thinks a new system will make some of these players, overnight more technically gifted and quicker on the ball will get a shock! In fact, Pep's system will only show up their weaknesses even more! 6 attacking player signings and no....let me say that again NO defenders signed with one week to go before the season is a BIG fail in our transfer dealings, especially when we knew these weaknesses even before the summer transfer window started....

We could almost copy and paste our concerns from last summer and use them now, nothing has changed!

agree but work rate will only get you so far...delph at the moment just doesn't have the quality

agree on sterling...you can see pep has given him the confidence to start running at people again and that cross was sublime

the absolutely shocking pass (blind) across the back 4 directly resulted in the fact that hart had to race out to try and block the player with the ball......stop trying to separate the two cause its simply wrong....i could accuse you of trying to back the kid when he shouldn't be making the same school boy error (for the second time in 3 matches)
Tbf I think we might be talking about different goals. I'm on about the first.

Calling out people for overreacting I think is a bit naive.

We are less than a week away from the start of the season and that quite frankly was awful and quite worrying, pre season or not.

We were all over the place, couldn't keep hold of the ball and our defence was shocking.

Only hope is after today Pep scraps the idea that Kolarov and Fenando are centre halves.

In desperate need of a centre back, and a central midfielder who can retain the ball.

You clearly didn't watch Mane running Barcelona ragged yesterday and have also forgotten his hat trick against us in April. He might not be Kun/Lewandowski/Suarez elite level, but I'd happily have him in our squad. Strong, quick, skilful, works his bollocks off, scores goals. Which part do you not like?

Can he play centre back though and how strong is his left wrist?

i would imagine we will press more when its a competitive game. add in the team will be different

Joe laughing after the third went in won't have done him any favours.
I think he's on self destruct mode. He knows that Pep wants his keeper to retain possession and distribute it out from the back but oh no, Joe fucking twats it upfield nearly every time, losing possession straight away.

This passing out the back scares the shit out of me, over played it a few times and they nearly score from it. I was shouting at the TV kick the fucking thing lol

We should have played two or three more games instead of schlepping to China & back to play one.

A week to go and we still are trying to sign players is it wise? if i was at Everton i would assess City are desperate after tonight and move Stones valuation up to 60m We have signed 3-4 promising kids but yet to rectify our obvious shortcomings

Joe Hart is always one of the first to go over to our fans and applaud them so why did Guardiola seem to pick him out of all the players to start pushing him over to our fans? What the heck was Hamman on about with 'body language' remark as well?

Joe Hart was not the worst player on that pitch today and why he has suddenly become the 'boo' boy is beyond me. He wasn't the worst player at the Euros either so I just wish people would get off his back. (JMHO)

if there are no passes on what js he meant to do ?

free shot from a player with enough time to take not one but two touches to set himself.........awful wide open defence, a keeper may get to those once in a while and save them but more times than not they go in regardless. .....watch the training videos from the last week and see how many go in when the players have no defenders in front of them....just like in todays match which is absolutely criminal
See, that's what I'm talking about. You think keepers might stop that once in a while? It was a good height and close enough for him to get a strong hand.

The part that him signing for Liverpool means they have had a better window than us.

Oh and the part that prior to scoring against us he hadn't scored for about 5 months...

This is absolutely not true. We were mugging Arsenal time & time again first half. Some of the players ran out of energy but it's not true there is no diference.

We can hardly get our gander up in champions league semi finals, what else would you expect from this bunch in a meaningless friendly. Not worried in the least

Personally I'm sick of this pressing game and leaving us wide open at the back football.

If we dont have the right players it does not work!

That season we won the league under Mancini fcuk me we were solid at the back and When we went 1-0 up I was 100% confident we wouldnt concede. Might just me looking back all gooey eyed though.
