I think that's over the top really. The transfer window is still open. I'm sure the friendly last night was another part of the process of Pep assessing the team. Let's see what this next few weeks will bring.

What he has bought he's bought well, my issue lies in the fact that the same old deficiencies have begun to resurface already. This level of negligence in these said positions shouldn't be allowed to happen at top clubs.

Well, we've had two shite left backs for half a decade and a reliance on Kompany for almost as long. Not to mention still needing another DM.

besides gundogan (who`s injured) we have bought for the future but no world class for the now sean?

Yep. The guy isn't doing his job.

I'm not into slagging Txiki off because the majority of the club's success across the board can be attributed to him.

My problem lies in the fact that it's yet another summer of us spending heavily on attacking positions whilst completely neglecting the CM, LB and CB area.

I can't echo enough how amateur our we've been in the market.

Posted this before but I still don't get the club this summer.

We've waited 3 or so years to bring in the best manager in the world.

Now we've got him I'm baffled as to why we've hamstrung him with bizarre pre-season plans and have been so slow in backing him in the transfer market.

A week to go and we'll still be mainly relying on players we got under Hughes and Mancini.
bingo.

One friendly and we're back to flapping and blaming Txiki again.

Some people wouldn't be happy without seeing an entirely new starting XI next week.

If we end up paying the Everton asking price for stones then that is incredibly poor. We could have done that 2 weeks ago and let h bed in. If txiki pulls off a great deal, then welol done, but I can't see anything other than us saving a couple of million, by wasting a lot of time.

a friendly that one week before the start of the season where the team looked two yards of the pace, defensively shambolic and having not addressed its major flaws from the last two seasons?? that's not flapping or anything that's just the truth mate!

Oh look, it's Richards30 flapper extraordinaire out of the woodwork to air his pussy.

Come on mate, Kolarov at CB? It's a friendly and the defence you saw wasn't even remotely indicative of what will be on the park for the first match of the season.

Ha, so untrue! There are key areas of weakness that we still haven't addressed with players who will have an immediate impact. If you believe otherwise, then I've no idea what you are watching.

You keep saying "key areas of weakness that haven't been addressed", in both this thread and the John Stones thread, it's getting old. Why not go flap to Pep Guardiola? Clearly he doesn't share your concern.

One single friendly with a starting XI completely alien to what you will see next week means nothing. Select players struggling to adapt to Pep's style means nothing. That we haven't brought in more defenders yet when the transfer window is still open means nothing. That Kompany and Otamendi were injured so Alex fucking Kolarov was playing CB, means nothing. Get over it, move on.

well kolarov might have to play there? vinny injured, otamendi doubtful, mangala likely to leave, stones not even here yet? name call all you want mate but we have been average all pre-season and not addressed the problem the squad has had the last two seasons! no doubt last week we signed some world class potential players that in 2-3 seasons COULD be world class but besides gundogan who is still injured and sane who is injured no world class NOW players.

Ha! Remind me how often Kompany gets injured if you think we can rely on him.
Also, remind me how many CBs we have been linked with in a fairly big way if you believe he doesn't share my concern.
And I caveat a lot of what I say with what I know pep clearly brings us. I believe we need another CM, if Pep doesn't, then he knows better than me.

Do you believe Pep is part of the recruitment process i.e identifying what he needs?

Bolded: An actual argument you and others are actually making.

1. I'm not saying we should rely on Kompany.
2. CBs we have been linked with? 3. One of whom is on his way.
3. Pep does know better than you.
