John Stones

Absolutely over the moon with this signing, the one I've wanted since Pep took over. Unbelievably talented lad and yes, he can be suspect defensively, but he's young and always learning - if there is a Manager in world football to make him play to his potential, it's Pep.

I genuinely think he will be world class one day and the price will be irrelevant - it's no coincidence Mourinho wanted him and Chelsea, Barca were linked and Pep wanted him too.

As for the price - yes it is steep but unfortunately that is the way of football at the moment and will only get worse -but as long as it's affordable to the buying club, who cares?! I actually think this is a good deal all round - City/Pep get the player they want, Stones gets the move he wants and Everton get a very good price for a 22 year old defender to improve their squad and i wont forgot Barnlsey getting 15% too!

Welcome to the Club, John!

This might clear up the mix up over CL squad.....all done before the deadline to register him but in a classy move by the club, we agreed not to say anything...I'm guessing while Everton close the deal for Williams......Great work!!

I'm being told that City agreed the Stones deal late last night, but agreed not to announce it until this morning at Everton's request.

They legitimately included Stones in their CL squad before the 11pm deadline, but then UEFA released it this morning earlier than expected.

Wow, great news, Pep must have been reading the posts on the Sunderland match thread.
Welcome John straight in the team I hope!

I swear if England do well at the World Cup 2018 they'll have Pep Guardiola to thank, and Pochettino to an extent.

Silly posts to knock Pogba We chased him all last summer great player no doubt, but PEP didnt see him as vital to what we need and i trust him think if the Gaffer had said he was a priority we would have at least give it a shot

I agree I dont think our midfiled is a problem and seen some real potential from the youngsters this pre season to the point where Angelino is so confident he turned down a loan move

So happy we have finally signed him. Pep will make him one of the best ball playing defenders in the world, I have no doubts about that. Loved his interview as well, he looks genuinely excited and overwhelmed that the best manager in the world wanted him and he has joined us. Can't wait to see him play.

Has to be said, fantastic trolling of the gutter press by both the club and UEFA. At the same time several newspapers are publishing stories from made up 'sources' UEFA are confirming Stones as a City player while the club just let the media keep digging. Made my day.
