Our best transfer window ever

As another window has opened recently it's got me to thinking about what our greatest transfer window has been. This summer has been far and away the best one for me with Fernandinho and Negredo standing out as the 2 best signings in the entire league, not just at City. Jesus Navas has impressed as well as Demichelis doing a job. We've still (hopefully) got Stevan Jovetic who is a supremely talented player to come into the team from this summers window. The stark contrast to the 2012 summer is frightening, whether Mancini is to blame or not is another issue completely. But the signings in the summer window of 2012 were abysmal in my opinion.

So what for you has been the best transfer window in our history? Only Summer 2010 can come close for me.

we got yaya and silva in the same window i think? thats got to be up there

Yeah I mentioned 2010, Yaya, Silva and Balo were all in that one I believe. Also signed Jerome Boeteng though.

Think you've said it. It's either 2013 or 2010. Very close between the two. Kudos to Soriano, Txiki and one would assume final say-so or input from Pellegrini. This summer has been pure hits. I am blown away by Negredo, Navas is frightening and can finish, Fernandinho is coming into his own, and the maligned (in some quarters) Demichelis is just fine by me. The only question mark appears to be Jovetic who, despite people whose opinions I hold in high regard really rating the guy, seems to be very injury prone. Hopefully he's having just having some bad luck but we've seen it before haven't we. Great window was last summer. I'm not expecting any big signings, if any, this January though.

Now wrong with Boateng. Was sold on for a profit.

On this subject, it was interesting to hear Pellegrini after the game when asked about the signing of negredo, he made it obvious that he had brought him to the club. Gives the lie to that rubbish about him just being the coach that some spout.

Yes, it's been a super window. I suspect the wages of the signings, whilst high, won't be close to the tevez/yaya levels we were having to chuck on the table a couple of years ago.

Agree, apart from Nastasic, who I think is a great player and going to get better and better

Obviously the quality now is better than it was, but signing Wanchope and Weah on the same day was properly exciting

I think I'll go summer 2008, simply because the club's sale to the Sheikh and same day purchase of Robinho (even though it ahhhh...wasn't an unqualified success shall we say) was a 'kinell moment beyond all others. And definitely the most excited by one I've ever been.

Im going to take you all back to the early 2000s

The 12 month period from summer 01 to summer 02 we signed a host of players including Berkovic, Pearce, Bernarbia, Foe (RIP), Distin and it all culminated in the signing of Anelka for £13m.

You have to put this in perspective; 3 seasons earlier id witnessed us lose to Wycombe at home and York away. Dark days were still horribly close by and we were up and down the leagues but this set of transfers was different, we'd not competed at the top end of the transfers in my lifetime and this was genuine attempts to push on into Europe.

Was exciting for me way back when. Some of the recent windows have been astonishing.

That's a good call, actually. They were exciting times as the club rejuvenated itself after Royle dragged us from the doldrums. Keegan started off with some superb signings and finished with a bunch of stinkers.

Keegan was a rollercoaster. He has critics and supporters, but no one can deny his teams were exhilarating! (and frustrating!)

Despite all the great signings we've made this time, I'd still go for summer 2010 as our best to date.

Bringing in Yaya and Merlin has proved to be fantastic business and add to that Joe coming back from Birmingham and beating Shay to be Bobby's No. 1 choice 'keeper, it was as good as we've seen, IMHO.

However, in a few years, this window may well exceed that one. Bringing in young, extremely talented players like Stones, Sané, Jesus and Moreno, as well as the experience of Nolito and Gündogan may well prove that this summer has been even better than 2010.

August 1983 Best window EVER! Jim Tolmie and Derek Parlane signed for us, great days let's ave it!

I agree, but to be fair its way to early to judge the "class of Summer 16".

I expect Gundy, Stones, and Bravo (pending) to start almost every match and be key pieces in Peppy's mysterious beautiful puzzle. I've said it 3 or 4 times on here, I don't think the average blue is as excited about getting Bravo as they should be. I know the circumstances are strange to say the least, and we haven't actually signed him yet but I REALLY rate Bravo and think he'll be the best GK in the PL this year.

I see Nolito as an important contributor who will be playing in a lot of matches and basically replacing Navas.

But what I'm really excited about is the young guys were bringing in. Didn't see much of Sane, but i hear good things. GABRIEL JESUS will be a star player for us. I think this maybe our best signing. It probably won't be until the beginning of next season but once he's settled, I think he'll light the league on fire. Reminds me of a young Brazilian Eden Hazard. Low center of gravity, knack for finding the back of the net, and with the ball drives powerfully and directly at players coming off that left side. Can't say i know them from Adam, but Moreno and Ukrainian kid look like players.

Am i forgetting anyone?

I think if everything works out (obviously a big IF) these signings have the potential to be the best group of recent signings

I think Bravo, Gundogan, and Nolito will deliver an instant impact. Stones, Sane, and Jesus (to a lesser extent) are in between the current and future contributors as they will play but are still young. Zinchenko and Moreno I honestly don't know about. Would love it if they were an important player for us at some point but also wouldn't be arsed if we made a profit off of them as they were the cheaper signings. All in all, it's been a tremendous summer. I would assume we're done after Bravo, but wouldn't be surprised if we were in for a center mid or a center back if we offload enough players.

I'm very pleased with Txiki's business.
