Haha
Sorry John. I was playing cricket today so missed it.
Brilliant win, and if Silva was truly back to his majestic 2011 best, then I'll hold my hands up.

He was excellent. The little pass that put Iheanacho in on goal for the third was exquisite. Vintage Dave. I don't know about back to his 2011 best, but he's certainly playing way better than he did last season. A unique talent

He's not back to his very best but he is adapting well to life under Pep and, if he stays fit, he could have one of his best seasons.

I noted him tracking back into our penalty area to double up with Zab in injury time.
He's buying into the new regime which is fantastic news for us. I dare say he didn't do much of this kind of work last season

He was my motm yesterday. What I noticed was his work rate which is way up on last season. A combination of him being pain free and pep. To be fair, all the players look like they are buzzing. Really noticed Kelechi's demeanour as well. Much more confident. Is it my imagination or is he taller and less gangly than last season?

Silva and Yaya are the two best City players I've ever seen. I've watched old footage of our 60's-70's golden era with Bell, Lee, Summerbee, Marsh, Barnes, Channon etc and in my honest opinion both Yaya & Silva have been better players for us than any of the aforementioned.

I feel totally blessed that I've been able to watch them week in, week out and witness their greatness with my own eyes. The fans who have doubted these two greats need to understand that for the last 3 years they have been playing for a manager who didn't have a tactical clue or any idea how best to deploy both players & those around them.

Albeit Yaya had his best season ever in 2013-2014, both he and Silva were left exposed once opposition managers had sussed out Pellegrini's archaic inflexible 442 non-tactics. They suffered, the team suffered and so did us fans. I always preferred a 4123 formation and always thought Silva would flourish being one of the two central midfielders with a dedicated, deep lying, ball playing defensive midfielder behind.

This how Pep set up his iconic Barca team with Xavi and Iniesta playing in the same roles as KDB & Silva and look at what its done to our team so far. Silva has been the most effective of our central 3 marginally ahead of Fernandinho who has to do most of the unheralded dirty work to keep us ticking. We started with the same players we had last year versus Stoke, but look at the difference a proper manager deploying proper tactics and putting players in more effective positions that suit their strengths and unique talents, has made.

He wasn't, decent but not that level.... KDB poor as well

Different positions, different expectations and different demands. Thought it would be a bit useless to compare him now to him in 2011. There is always ample room for improvement, but his performance yesterday should deserve more than "decent". Reading about Pep's tactics and thinking back to his performance in the last three matches, I'm amazed how he has adapted to a new role, a role that requires a lot of discipline and awareness, in such a short time. Now I admit that he's my favourite footballer, but I thought it was normal for even the best players to struggle in a new role at the beginning. Maybe that's because he has played in a similar set-up with Spain before, but it also reflects his tactical intelligence.

Tactical intelligence, speed of thought, will never abandon the top players... I've read peps book, however, it's not needed to see that he isn't the same player, unfair or not....he was decent, as was sterling and a number of other players...

David was excellent yesterday, and in addition he put a hell of a shift in. The spine of Stones, Fernandinho, Silva and Sergio looked very good

I thought in the first half he was superb. He's almost adopting an Iniesta role, doing far more than he's ever done in terms of both creativity and defensive duties. In the second half he got sloppy, playing more like he has done in the last two years, though I felt that most of the team suffered a drop in discipline before the Kelechi & Nolito subs reinvigorated us and pushed us to get the 3rd & 4th goals. I probably would've taken him off at around the 75 minute mark but he's certainly getting back to his best and it's all down to Pep.

There seems to be a bizarre sense of surprise that David is playing well.

Anyone that doubts the ability of David Silva is a little soft in the head.

Him and Sergio are two of the most naturally gifted players that I have ever seen at our club. Such a joy to watch. Read some articles in the spanish press saying Pep rates Silva highly. The only negative aspect with regards to Silva is that he hesitates to shoot. That is about it..

8/10 yesterday. Ankle OK so you get David Silva simple as that. Decent my fucking arse.
