Joe Hart's Ten Years

I'm not going to look,i didn't enjoy being a soppy girl lol

Happens the best of us, I got all emotional about the Dunney monster leaving, in fact it's what made me take the plunge to start posting on message boards because I needed somewhere to vent.

I don't think he needs the charity, it aint 1956.
That's why most players who are given testimonials donate the proceeds to a charity. I'm aware he doesn't need the charity and I'm also aware what year it is thanks. Personally I think anybody who gives 10 years service to 1 club deserves a send off but maybe I'm old fashioned. Are testimonials a thing of the past then?

Hopefully yes at this level.

To be granted a testimonial then his testimonial committee would need to apply for one, it isn't for the club to organise in the first instance. Players can donate money to charity without asking the fans for the money to watch a nothing game.

Maybe Joe should say I earned a lot of money from City, I will pay for all the fans to watch a cup game for free. I wouldn't expect that, but it would be more logical than the fans paying the player more.

No, this response is illogical!

How do you know Joe wouldn't offer to match or add to the money earned for charity?

Is watching a game of football that helps an organisation not worthy or would you rather pay it straight into the club's coffers?? I'd prefer the "nothing game" and donate to 'Childline' or something!

Strange thinking from you, imo!

Let's say a cup match for 50,000 supporters averages around £25 per ticket. I'm sure he will just pump £1.3 million out of his account for that. Fuck me I wouldn't.

That is exactly what I said, vice versa the fans should not be expected to pay it to a player.

By that logic you would never go to another game and just donate all money to charity. Fair enough. I certainly don't think millionaire footballers are charities, and they don't need our help if they wish to donate themselves or HMRC help on he tax rebate.

I'm sure it would be well attended if he had one. I would give it a miss though.

Where did he say millionaire footballers are charities? I think you know what he was trying to say... testimonials usually raise money for charity organisations of the players choice, they don't line players pockets. It's mad how even when it's for a good cause and a send off for a city legend people find a way to put negative spin on it.

It would depend on finding a time to do it that suits everyone(the team and Joe himself) but it would be a good gesture and show we aren't all ungrateful little cretins sniping at former players all the time, not you personally it gets a bit much on here the way some go on.
