So it's been a couple of months since Pep's reign and we all had predicted a lot of things in our mind from the offseason until now, while also saying a lot of stuff here in BM. So here's your chance to boast about things that you got right and also your chance to state your mistakes and eat some humble pies. So if you said in the transfer forum that Stones will be our worst transfer ever, here's your chance to own up to it. I'll start :

What I got right:
  1. Yaya, Nasri would be gone. (Yaya is still here, but metaphorically he's gone)
  2. Pep will revive Sterling and that Pellegrini just mismanaged him.
  3. Pep will elevate both KDB's game and status in world football.
  4. We would sign young prospects only.
  5. Stones is a class defender and was just made to look worse with a bad system/manager/team.
  6. Same with Otamendi.
  7. Denayer is average (still to be proven).
  8. Aguero would score goals like mad.
  9. Joe would be shipped out.
  10. Pep will micromanage everything about the club.
  11. Soon people will get over how they don't like the kit because we would play so well in it.
What I got wrong:
  1. Thought Kolarov is the worst footballer ever that doesn't give two fucks about defending.
  2. Thought Pep would have a mediocre record early on as the team adapts to his style.
  3. Thought we definitely had Pogba in the wrap and that he'll be like Yaya in his prime (Wrong on both counts).
  4. Thought Angelino, Maffeo couldn't cut it at the senior level. (They can)
  5. Thought Manu Garcia would be the Garcia that makes it in the first team and not Aleix.
  6. Thought Vinnie would recover in time for the start of the campaign.
  7. Thought Zaba and Fernando would be gone.
  8. Thought Silva would struggle with fitness. (I know he's injured now but it wasn't anything serious)
  9. Thought Sane would hit the ground running. (I was most excited for his signing)
  10. Thought Nolito would be an improvement from Navas. But he's surpassed my expectation.
  11. We would still be below the Madrids and the Barcas in terms of signing players. Gabriel Jesus signing proved this wrong.

Things I got wrong:

Kolarov. I senses he'd stay as we showed Little interest in fullbacks. But I wanted him gone badly. And I believed letting him go will improve the team tremendously.

Outside of that, everything else I loved and was on board with. :) This was my summer in terms of signing and philosophy. :) I'm usually the one whinning about bad fit players we got and good fit players we didn't consider. This summer was just magical for me.

And the season have si far supported my view. Still think we need a RB and a LB for next summer. But other than that we are pretty set.

I knew Kolarov would turn into the world's best football player overnight. Not sure how you all couldn't see it ;)

Kokarov and Sterling wrong, although it's early days and last seasons start by the same two players (granted, nowhere near as good as this seasons) is stopping me from getting too carried away.

Was right about Nolito. Felt he would be a very good signing and so far so good.

Surprised we didn't target Jose Gaya. Maybe Pep didn't fancy him?

I am reflecting that I might have to re-adjust my ingrained, basic dreams for a City season.

For years and years and years all I wanted was to avoid relegation and beat Manure.

Under Mr Pep, I now dream of possible silverware in the next couple of seasons.

To be honest with you, the thought of playing Barcelona doesn't scare me anymore, at least not like before.

I thought peg would do very well initially, then it all to go tits after about 3 seasons. Didn't think it'd be 3 games.

Ha ha, good thread! Confession for the non-believers!

Things I appear to have gotten wrong:

1. That Raheem Sterling would be no more than a decent squad player for us, because his control/technique was too inconsistent for him to cut it at this level under any manager. There have still been one or two signs of this (2nd half away at Stoke, where he misdirected any number of routine passes infield from the left, and at the Swamp when he massively underhit or overhit simple balls to overlapping colleagues), but overall the turnaround has been stunning. The confidence to go past players, the better retention of possession, the graft in getting back into position, he suddenly looks a proper menace. Tougher challenges than Monchengladbach and Bournemouth lie ahead, but thus far he's pulled my pants down good and proper.
2. That the rags or the dippers would win the league. Actually I'll stand by the latter being our main challengers as I think any team managed by Klopp will be a real long term threat, and 7 points out of 9 from Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea away is menacing form, but the rags have been (gloriously) hopeless. I thought they would be tough to beat, but Mourinho looks more of a busted flush every place he goes.
3. That letting Joe Hart go was a mistake. I'm still not fully convinced that letting such a great shot stopper go was wise, but the whole keeper as an attacking catalyst thing was there for all to see on Saturday. That game of triangles between Bravo, Sagna and Fernandinho in the 2nd half, with the Bournemouth forward chasing his tail in the middle of them, verged on cruelty.
4. That the squad was looking too lightweight to succeed in the Premier League and that we were short in numbers both up top and at centre half. To be fair though I doubt anyone saw the Kolarov at centre back thing coming.
5. Underestimating Pep generally. I mean I knew he was good, but not this good

Things I appear to have gotten right:

1. That Otamendi was comfortable enough in possession to flourish under Pep and that Mangala would get the chop for that same reason reversed.
2. That Pep would give Sergio a kick up the arse.
3. Not joining in with the Kolarov hate fest his summer.

I think I said on here that Pep would be revolutionary, and that some of the changes he would make would not be the obvious ones.

But if you'd told me that Hart would be sacked off immediately, and that Kolarov would not only survive but become an immense player, I'd have laughed. (In fairness, I did think Joe would eventually be replaced, but that it would be in a year or two. The Kolarov thing is just amazing. I think it's the most amazing transformation I have ever seen.)

What I got wrong - Kolarov.

I'd have dropped him off at the airport myself a couple of months ago. Baffling how imperious the lad looks at the moment, a true testament to great coaching and man management. Amazing.

Like most people I guess, I thought Pep would take time to settle. I thought fullbacks would be a priority and I certainly didn't think Kolarov would be a starter never mind turn out like Maldini. I thought United would be better. I thought tactically we'd be poor and wouldn't work hard enough. I was unsure how good Stones would be. I didn't think we'd be top of the league after 5 games and have an already impressive goal difference.

What I got right. I did think Pep would revitalise Sterling. I thought Nolito would be a very useful signing. I knew Pep would revolutionise the club (didn't think it would happen so quickly mind).

I didn't get anything wrong or right because after 50 plus years of watching City I know that predictions are pointless. Anything can happen.

My usual optimism was in place for the start of the season, but I don't get too excited by early season form, especially as four of the five clubs City have beaten in the league so far are in the bottom four places in the table.

Got it completely wrong on Kolorov - always said he was a liability and till Pep arrived I stand by that (he was woeful).....I wanted him gone but Pep has worked miracles with him

Im not 100% convinced as I still think there are weaknesses there in his game that could be a huge problem but they aren't exposed anywhere near as much due tot he way Pep has the team and individuals playing ....

Sill not sure that we don't need another striker but with the arrival of Jesus in January, he will add a whole new dimension to our attack with his 1 vs 1 ability that very few of our forwards offer......but upto now its not looking like we will need another striker (though I still maintain an injury to Kun long term and before xmas it will cause us a problem...but maybe not as much as i thought it would.
