Spurs vs City post match

Only positive for me is that we are still top and have played the rags, spuds and stoke away! Down side is kolarov has done the same as last season....played well for 5 or 6 games then gone to fuck again! Zabba is finished in this team now as well

Great post, the positive is that our weaknesses are obvious and so relatively easily fixed.

im not sure they are easily fixed without a transfer window and i cant see that happening in the new year.....

sagna fits better than zabba but Pep has already said he needs to rotate these players due to the work that esp sagna put in last year and due to the work rate required

with an injury to our midfield wee have no-one to come in other than fernando and his ball use, speed of thought and passing simply is poor and he is a very weak link.....it also leaves silva isolated when he plays as he simply doesn't support enough....but again who comes in instead of him when we need him......the difference when gusongan came on was notable but again these players play in a position which needs to be rotated.....no way Ilkay can play every game (even without injury) hence why he didnt start today and then you see what happens....so one injury to our midfield and we drop a whole level or 2 ...again are we going to get a decent central midfielder in January - I don't think so and Yaya definitely aint going to play so I'm not sure it can be solved.

The only bit that gets solved easily in January is navas....Gabriel Jesus coming in gives us another option but as we are seeing with Sane, he will need time as Sane looks way off the pace even in the glimpses we've seen....Jesus could be different as he will come off the back of playing regularly (but that could work against him as well)

Almost every game is won and lost in midfield and we were absolutely overrun in central mid

I watched their game in Europe. It was easy and they rested players. They had an extra day and were at home

Time and time again you'll see CL teams play away in midweek and then get beat at the weekend, particularly if they are away. Happens all the time

They made 2 changes from Tuesday, how many did we make? Moscow away is never an easy game, how did we get on their a couple of seasons ago?

Fernando, Navas, Zabaleta all starting. Too many players who simply aren't good enough for where we need to be.

Why are Gundogan and Sane (£70 million of talent) on the bench in a big game only for Fernando and Navas to start? Spending £50 million on Sane to start Navas ahead of him is bizarre IMO. We'd be laughing at United if they did that.

Our top players are the best in the country, but we still have so many average players in the squad. Also, we're nowhere near as good without KDB - same as last season. Full backs not good enough, only have two CBs good enough, not sure centre midfield is that great either. Is Silva really good enough to be a centre midfielder in such a physical league? I'm not sure.

[QUOTE="Not replacing the full backs once again is going to cost us. None of them are good enough for this level any more never mind europe.

Sorry to say, but it's over for Zaba & Kolarov now. Liabilities. What about Angelino & Maffeo? They couldn't have done any worse today.[/QUOTE]

the young lads aint ready..nowhere near ready

Yeah, well, it went pretty much as I expected with our comedy defence under Pep. It was pretty obvious Spuds were going to run at us all game and cause us all sorts of hassle. Expect the same types of games and results against Liverpool home and away.

So, yeah ..... Pep out. Forward with Franny !!

One of the funniest things I've read on here, Fernando heavy? Not laughing at you, because I do know what you're implying. He's meant to be our hard man, but he just isn't. If you spoke to him he'd start crying. He's a drip, goon, gimp, fraud.
I know, I know, but it was a question about the lightness of Barca midfield in comparison to ours.
So is our midfield too light not heavy enough? it did work against the scum, why not today.
Perhaps the KDB factor?

Better team won on the day. Pep will learn loads from that. Bravo and stones best for me. Kolorov, Ota, Fernando, Navas, gundogan Zaba not at the required standard for today's game.

Exposed what we all knew. We have not yet got the quality of players in all positions we need. High pressing, high energy teams will find us out. Liverpool will get at us big time. Zab, Fernando, Kolorov and Navas off the pace for what we need.

Obviously we are still a work in progress so all facets of Pellegrini haven't magically evaporated yet

Not sure it has anything to do with the manager. Certain players have no character and go missing when we fall behind. How many games since over the last 3 seasons have we got wins from losing positions?
