City v Saints post match

We weren't at our best today but some of the childish tantrums around me slating the players was unbelievable- really need to be patient and stick together.

Its obviously not, you have different oppositions. We played two away games compared to one last season I think. You can't compare two seasons unless you have enough matches to average out mate. I could just say that about the Rags game then. We won this season, lost last season. Hence this season is better. Sounds stupid?
Actually last season we won at Sevilla and Gladbach in the first 3 last year. So if we get knocked out in the groups which is a possibility this year then we shouldn't compare

Comfortably our worst performance this season.

agree...we played better vs barca

Thought we were poor vs spurs but to be fair to spurs they made us poor....today saints did really make us poor....we just were...one of those days and you could see it from the off...we were lacklustre for some reason

The defending has been piss poor since the nasty Italian left us. And frankly with each passing week it becomes more depressing. Franco Baresi would be struggling with us at the moment.

Too all those trying to kick the team down, seriously??? Let me see you go out and lose a big game against Barcelona and not have a hangover from it!

After looking at all our previous 5 games we lost or drew the main factor we are suffering is individual error mistakes and bad luck and until the system is perfected this is going to happen.

Kolarov Own goal against Spurs
Bravo mistake against Barca
Gundogan Mistake against Barca
Stones Mistake against Southampton
Aguero missed penalty against Everton
KDB missed penalty against Everton
Sterling own goal against Celtic
First goal by Celtic Offside

Unbelievable that all the above is happening to City in the last 5 games! And today I could see the team was struggling due to some loss in confidence! Our passes were all over the place and not good enough. The players were afraid to make a bad pass leading to making tons of bad passes that are always intercepted!

We need some shake up until things get back on track. But overall this is a learning curve and I believe we are still sound. Just need to pick ourselves up very fast

1) Aguero is not passing the ball? I don't get it? Is that an instruction or his style of playing? Nacho did some great connections with Sterling and Gondugan and also scored the equaliser. I think Nacho has to start a couple of games ahead of Aguero and Aguero can be brought in second half until he is back to his best
2) We are struggling to cross the ball into the box. Everytime it is intercepted! Almost everytime today! we had I think 9 or 10 corners or more!!
3) Sterling and Sane are great but Sterling is better on the right and seems Sane can play well on the left
4) Gundogan and Ferna are not gelling and need more time to gel but when playing 3 at the back you need both of them. When playing 4, we can use one
5) We cannot blame Pep for the individual mistakes. He is not the one who did a wrong pass, he is not the one who missed a penalty, he is not the one who scored and own goal and he is not the keeper who had 3 to pass to and ended up passing to the 4th person who was on the other team!

I don't think we will win the league this year but we will compete for it. We need another year before those mistakes are eradicated and the system is in full shape. We need to be patient. Yes we can be upset to lose but to call the team a shit team or boo the players or say Pep is out of his league and all that non sense and then look at the table and we are top??? Baffling!

Spent a fortune and we still have dogshit fullbacks, how is Kolarov still in the team, we can't defend, no bite in midfield and now we can't score.
We had 3 right wingers on the pitch with Nolito sat on the bench. Our control and passing has gone astray, Sterling's decision making when passing is awful, and Sergio is turning into Sturridge and playing for himself not the team. I know we are top but it's a replay of last season, 15 points out of 15 (18/18 this year) and then same points again but out of the next 15 games!
Pep needs to get a grip quick or we'll be out of the running for Prem and Champs League.
Disappointed.
Cheers

When its an out and out one man fuck up like today or Bravo its exactly that, a personal mistake and they happen.

Dont think we defended badly as a side today.

This match could have been plucked from last season's library and not looked out of place, from the slow start to the frantic scramble at the end, the pointless and/or too late subs in between, the 4-4-2 after Nacho came on. In the end, Pep has a lot of work to do to get this team playing consistently in the system he is trying to implement.

They are making mistakes due to what is being asked of them. Players misplace passes all over the pitch but when it occurs as it did today just outside our own box then trouble ensues. That is why most managers do not play this way.

Thought Stones, gundogen, silva, DeBruyne, Sterling and aguero were poor today. Silva, gundogen and Sterling improved in the 2nd half I thought but they all seemed to be struggling to do the basics right!

Whilst there was an improvement in the 2nd half it still wasn't good enough!

Taking all of that into account I'm happy with a point that takes us back to top spot and I don't think we'll have those players all have a bad day like that again, at least not all together any way!

I think perhaps there is frustration still from last season?

Pep has been the goal for the club for many seasons and many were expected a big change - yet the club has lumbered him with many ageing or not good enough players and so we're seeing similar performances this season to last?

Not saying I agree fully btw.

Its still an individual error rather than a team or tactic issue imo and as for most managers......none of them have won 21 titles in the last 7 years ;-)

Players are down on confidence and we don't look that good at present.

Really giving away some poor goals as well and we don't have the sharpness around the box to punish teams.

5 games without a win is just not good enough considering the opponents.
