City v Saints post match

Pisses me off that fans who know nothing about the dressing room, or even football management are starting to tell us our manager doesnt know what he is doing!

Get a grip guys, he has been manager for 8 games or whatever, with an ageing squad, new players, new league, media against us.

And now fans against him too? ffs
Totally agree

He wants more direct football, not 3 at the back, should be 5 at the back. The players should work on building sites in close season. He didn't want Pep at first and doesn't want him at second. Get Pep out and replace him with Simone from Spain

Spot-on that. Never understood having 3 at the back and this fluid mobility formation malarkey. Get back to basics, 5 at the back, Joe in nets and 5 other grafters like Psycho who was a mean sparky so could organise the building-site delegation.

Let the fans pick the team and the tactics. They are much better at it.

It was the time wasting from Southampton and the ref that were getting boo'ed not the team and it certainly was needed; it was ridiculous. Southampton killed almost a full minute in stoppage time and Clattenburg didn't add time on to account for it.

Not how I saw it... I'm pretty sure the booing was for the team.
Clattenburg couldn't wait to dish out the yellows to us, but it was the second half when the time wasting really took over.
The boos (imo) were for a lacklustre performance, but only from a minority of the crowd

Today clearly wasn't great and a low point performance wise in the Pep era so far. Having said that barring another very easily avoidable, gift of a goal given away, I still think we'd have beat a decent team. We shot ourselves in the foot big time in midweek, missed penalties last week and Kolorov's made two big gaffs the week before. Players making errors are part of the game ofcourse but these have been pretty major ones directly costing us goals, even going back to the Derby when we gifted United a lifeline. We can bang on about tactics and systems all day long but for me, for now it's nothing more complicated than cutting out what have been significant errors. We'll be just fine.

Simone from Spain?

Seriously is that guy in the video for real or is this a wind up? Were top of the league, have Pep and he wants Simone. Plus Simone is from Argentina, not Spain.
He ought to be ashamed of himself.

Not good enough. Simply not good enough.

Poor from the players, who to be fair to them look confused, leaderless and utterly knackered.

Poor from the manager. Very very poor. I thought we'd seen the last of extreme stubbornness from the dug out. I thought we'd seen the end of last minute subs 25 minutes too late.

With the way the fixtures have fallen we should be seven points clear by now. Not top on goal difference.

Spurs don't have half the quality we have. United neither. Nor Arsenal. Chelsea have a lesser squad and a lesser manager. Apparently. Only Liverpool should be able to live with us but given their early fixtures we should be 7 points clear of them to give us a needed cushion for when we inevitably get tactically thrashed by Klopp.

The teamwork looks like it's disappeared altogether. Players look confused and disorientated like they don't know what they are supposed to be doing.

It's all very well and good being great in press conferences but frankly that doesn't win you titles. Manuel was boring in them but won a double in his first year. Mancini was combative in them but under him we beat teams before the first whistle as they knew we likely wouldn't concede and were capable of breaking at pace at will.

I'm still waiting for the manager we waited four years for. The manager we undermined and cuckolded two managers for.

I don't agree with the "this year is one for learning and consolidation" line of thought either. The players, the club hierarchy, and the manager and the entire football world have known Pep was coming here since 2012. We have shaped the entire ethos of the club from top to bottom with Pep in mind. We will NEVER have a better chance to win the league than we have this year. I still think we will but to say I'm underwhelmed is an understatement.

And that's before we even begin to talk about the serious and worrying regression in europe.
Post of the day

Sorry to introduce some sensible rationale but is it just coincidence that our two most sluggish performances, Spuds and today, both came after tough CL games or is that too simple?

Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs all playing their very best football. We're in transition and nowhere near our best and still top the league. Once we start to play how Pep wants we'll take some stopping for the title. However, form apart, we have to stop gifting goals. Against Barca we were giving as good as we got until the sending off.

other than arsenal all those teams haven't been great this year. the league is competitive and no one is winning every game.
