Forgot to mention that Tony loved his captain as do I do we shared the odd bottle now and again and it has been muted that there could be a minutes applause in the 60th minute on Saturday I for one would support this and will be at the game I will then be toasting Tony with a wee dram of the captain after the game

I've been in touch with City today and at 60 minutes during the Middlesbrough game on Saturday the big screens will go on the crowd and there will be a minutes applause to celebrate this great man's life, please put your hands together for Tony Griffiths.

In addition to this, in the Matchday programme, there will be a tribute to Tony from CiTC recognising his achievements.

Below is a message from his family along with the funeral arrangements.

R.I.P. Tony 13/1/56 – 26/10/16

As a family we would like to thank everyone for their kind words of condolence at this sad time we truly have taken comfort from your kind words.

As a family we would like to invite yourself and any others that knew Tony Griffiths to his funeral.

The service will be held at Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham (WA14 4DP) on Thursday 10th November at 10:30.

Followed by a committal at Altrincham Crematorium (spaces are limited).

We plan on then returning back to Cresta Court for refreshments, some of you may wish to remain there after the service and not attend the cremation, this will be a accommodated.

Family flowers only, donations may be given to charities chosen by the family the details of which will be at the venue.

He died on 26th October 2016 aged 60 yrs

After joining Manchester & Salford Cadets in 1972 Tony joined GMP and was posted to the E Division where he served on both North and South Sub-Divisions before promotion to Sergeant saw him move to Altrincham. He also served with distinction as a Sergeant in the CID. He spent time working in Sierra Leone where he retains respect to this very day (especially from the MCFC Fan club he founded and nurtured!). After retirement he returned to GMP and worked at Nexus House where his skills were of great use during complex enquiries. He was and remained a lifelong and truly committed supporter of Manchester City FC.

I'll be looking at the Sierra Leone Flag positioned by Armani Sheku Kamara more than usual at the game today and thinking about Tony when I do.

Not forgetting Tony's massive contribution to all things Sierra Leone esp the football club he was also a season card holder of many years standing with Blue blood running through his veins. I had to smile when I paid him a visit at Salford Royal Hospital last year. His bedside wall and cabinet were decorated with all things Blue and despite his serious discomfort at the time he made sure everyone knew which team he supported.

Here's hoping Tony gets the round of applause he deserves at the 60th minute and Bluemoon readers do their share of the clapping.

The mans deserves a wonderful tribute later today.What area of the ground will the flag be flying as I`m sure I should be able to see it from CBL3 unless its on our part of the ground.
Going to be a very emotional day for you mate and his family obviously.
Wouldn`t it be great for one and all if we scored around about that time,but not clashing on that 60 minute mark.I`ll spread the word around my block, as I`m certain there will be unaware fans.

To be honest Alex, I found myself re-evaulating my stance for this one case.
