It pains me to admit it in light of what's come out since but it was-
Leader of the game gang by Gary Glitter in 1973 on Bell records from Woolworths. I was a mere lad of 9.

Made some great stuff and you can't account for his other....um.....things. I even went to see his feature film at the flicks !!

Got into records at a very early age due to my Dad working for EMI in the late 60's/ 70's. The house had loads of white label stuff that he used to bring home. The first record I ever remember hearing was Bread's Guitar Man. My Dad loved David Gates.




First record I actually spent money on was The Sweet's Blockbuster in 1973 I think. I was 7 and in love with music. Still am.




Last vinyl record I bought was Herb Albert.

Mine was Listen to the band /someday man EP by the Monkees or should I say America's attempt to get back at the fab four.

Unless you count the plastic record the ANZ Bank Travelling Man by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers Fame.

That yodelling Aussie way back in the early `60`s was something I don`t miss mate. ;)
Ah the Monkees,every school girls clit ticklers at that time,with Likul Davie from Wythenshawe was it ? We had some great bands from Manc in those days with the Hollies,Dave Berry,Hermans Hermits,The Mindbenders etc.

I had one of their ep's, Wayne County wasn't it, Toilet Love was one of the tracks and I think If you don't want to F me baby.... was also on there.

Sadly it wasn't my first purchase by a long chalk, my mum worked in a record shop in Poynton and brought home loads of ex-juke records (no middles). I do remember buying When you are a King by White Plains, from Boots in Stockport, 1971 and I was 11y/o.

Grove Records became my first port of call on a Thursday after work, having received my pay packet that afternoon, great days..

I can't say for sure but probably Blitzkrieg Bop in 1976 (seeing as how it's probably the oldest record I have that I bought).
I remember very clearly being on the bus back into town from Maine rd. and there was a group of punks at the back of the bus singing beat on the brat.
The next day I stuck a safety pin through my ear lobe in class, scrounged a pair of shit stoppers off my Grandad and got my Nana to sew a few zippers in the legs.

With the money I got for Christmas in 1963 I bought The Beatles first 2 LP's "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles" plus the "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" singles

I bought them at Paul Marsh on Alexandra Road!

What was the LAST record I bought? The Beatles "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" on both CD and Vinyl

Anyone remember Rare Records on John Dalton Street,in town.In the mid - late 60`s it was a hot bed of soul records and they could order most things from the States.At one time the owner used to write for the NME.
Those little booths with the headphones to hear your choice was a thing of beauty.Ah nostalgia, what a word.Loved the 60`s and most of the 70`s.

I went in there at least once a week in the late 60's/70's to see what they had. Also went in Hime and Addison on the other side of the road, which was also where I bought most of my concert tickets. Queued up all night for Led Zepp tickets outside there!

Another one we used to shop in was a very small shop right by Victoria Station,but I couldn`t tell you its name.
