'As A City Fan', Would You Like To See Safe Standing Introduced At The Etihad?

It doesn't.

You have a position number, just like you have a seat number and there's a rail between every row.

You can't just walk around and stand where you want.
Depends on the system they bring in. Whether the German or Scottish model.

So yes it could.

I'm happy as I am personally ,that's sat down , but I'm a old bastard and my chips & peas don't like standing for a hour & half . ..So as long as it doesn't affect where I sit ( 3tier ss ) I'm not bothered

Genuine question... what is the difference?
Even with a "seat" allocated I'd be in favour and see it as a far safer option than standing in a seated area. From an aging bones perspective I'd probably stay in my seat but agree with others that a proper standing area would improve the atmosphere at most grounds not just ours.

In favour, but not sure it would really make any difference at City seeing as we already have a standing section.

Its safe standing. You don't just get random people grouping together in one or two rows because otherwise it wouldn't be safe standing.

Whatever model differences, it will definitely be the safest here and you will stand where you're told to stand.

It 100% won't be a case of having a ticket for the 5th row but deciding to stand with a mate on the 10th row instead.

Asking a bit much if you think it's going to be a free roam do whatever you want section.

You haven't stood in the Kippax have you? Also i would be expecting to pay less to stand not more. I think you may be on the wind up tbh.
No I'm not. I was probably stood on the Kippax longer than most people on here.

Who would pay for the renovation?

The multi billionaire owners, you know the ones that have pumped hundreds of millions of pounds in already and still allow me and my son to have season tickets for the reasonable price of about £600 for both.

Think it would be a good idea behind the goal where most fans stand anyway. Me personally prefer to sit but don't see why people shouldn't have a choice. Don't think it will happen though.

If it's a toss up as to which we get first - HS2 or safe standing - I think it might just be the railway! There is a sizeable number of fans in favour which makes makes me think the decision-makers will drag their feet.

that happens in sections in germany and other countries. i think they fill each row up but you can stand where you want. so who knows it may happen in the future.

The majority of grounds already have standing in England semi-pro and above, and you stand were ever you want/can.

The only difference is higher attendances in the upper divisions.

theres more control now on numbers allowed in section and someone has said got to be safer than present set up standing at chairs how someone hasnt been hurt this way is more good luck than anything else but i dont think any changes soon Parliament couldnt give a shit about atmosphere

we should be aiming to replicate Dortmund's "yellow wall", (in blue of course) and a first step must be standing. Segregation is a must, standers and sitters need to be separated then everyone is happy. Wonder if showsec will get heavy with fans who sit in standing areas.

I bore myself going on about this, but the old standing was safe, it was the fences that caused people to die. No one at Liverpool moaned about the old Kop being unsafe, quite the opposite in fact they revelled in it. The proposed system in my opinion just makes standing safer than the current situation, which is people standing in seated areas - I've injured myself far more often falling over onto seats below celebrating at Wembley, Chelsea, Palace etc.

The daft thing about this debate is that the old style terracing still exists in lower divisions and in other sports, with no problems, and more obviously, at stadium rock concerts where the entire pitch is standing with no barriers, with constant surging at the front (ultimately within a 'fixed space' with limited ways out at one end. Hillsborough was obviously an enormous tragedy, and has shaped the game for good, for bad, but the lack of atmosphere at football is down to pricing out teenagers and under 25s, and the embracing of the corporate dollar, nothing else. If safe standing makes a difference to that an is the only option, then lets go for it.

Yes, for all the reasons people have listed above.

I'm too old to want to stand these days but I've always felt it a great shame that the younger fans have missed out on the Kippax atmosphere that I used to love back in the day.

Yes but it won't work perfectly. The same Blues who go in the singing section but don't sing will want to sit in the Standing Section, if it's cheap.
