Burnley - Post Match Thread

He is correct we are not fluid or great to watch except for the 1st 6 games and the odd exception incl Barca. We have to be honest. Maybe we are work in progress in fairness but we dont look title winning material at the moment regardless of out league position.

I thought we played well against West Brom, both Barca games, Everton, saints and first half v Boro. He has only been here 4 months.

The main thing from today for me was that we showed some guts. Pep has now got a full week to work on systems and moves. We are still right up there and Europe is just about put to bed for a 3 months. Anything we win this season is a bonus, it is glaringly obvious that we need two full backs and a centre half. Yaya & Fernando were decent today, Sterling and Clichy both poor.

First half we were absolute wank. Second half we played some good stuff but we escaped with 3 points after a decent last minute save.

Need to cut these last minute chances out! We showed how to kill a game dead the other night but in this and the last game against Palace we perhaps could have done it better. Then again I bet Pardew would say the same after today!

Great 3 points but there is a lot needs working on. Some like defending might need more than work to improve. it doesn't help when we give stupid free kicks to the opposition for them to launch bombs at a dodgy defence. what gives Stirling the idea that you can grab a player and push them over without conceding a free kick? yellow cards for daft stuff!! needs working on.

Another vote for Fernando as MOTM, made some good interceptions and generally tidied up in the middle. Clichy had a shocker and I wish Otamendi would direct his headers out of defence a bit better, too many - including for the goal - went straight to an opponent in a shooting position. We're grinding out the points at the moment but we will need to be better with the games coming up in December.

All this "after the CL midweek" stuff is bugging me. Didn't we once beat the reigning champions 6-1 "after the CL midweek"? Though I'll admit that was Tuesday to Sunday.
We also beat the same shower of shite 4-1 "after the CL midweek", but again it was Tuesday to Sunday. Nice to relive those memories though.
So what do we know after today? The view is still poor for visiting fans near the back, we can't play Wednesday and Saturday, the result is all that matters unless we draw in which case we are compelled by the happy clappies to look past the result, Marriner needs a guide dog as do most of his colleagues, and it looks like the dwarf song has been forgotten.
Roll on next Saturday when we've had a full week to prepare for Chelsea.

Those saying shite performance ect. Give your head a wobble. Burnley made it hard for us adding to that a piss poor ref. I cant remember a decent 1230 kick off game. In the past 7 days we have had two away wins and qualification for the next stages of the CL. Great week

I didn't think the performance after the first 25 mins was that bad. We had 21 attempts albeit with only 5 on target but it wasn't that bad. We aren't ripping up trees but there is surely much more to come and these breaks in the week now will be valuable. No need to play any regular starter v Celtic

Burnley boss already admitted that he changed his tactics to combat us. it's difficult as they are all fearful of getting thrashed which they know we are capable of. There will be lots of games like this. The away form
Is excellent just the home form iffy
