Had such a lovely moment tonight. Was back on a train home from the pub (in London due to employment circumstances) and a little kid from Somalia saw my city hat and came to talk to me about football. All he wanted to talk about was aguero and gundogan and De Bruyne and tbh his views on tactics and formations went way over my head. Was pretty amazing seeing this first wave of kids getting giddy over the style we play these days. His eyes popped out when I told him I was at the qpr game!

Should have told him about York away. We're making headway in Ireland too, have bought a fair few kids shirts for children of very unhappy friends who support the sky 4 (and the son of one Evertonian mate who reckons his kid is probably better off so fuck it, is bringing me to Goodison this season in return).

I often think that about my son and his generation. They're incredibly fortunate to grow up watching City during this period in the club's history, not that you'd ever want to begrudge them seeing the likes of Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne etc in their prime of course. Don't know they're born, mind you!

A few years ago when we played Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, I took my kids and looked at our players as they ran out onto the pitch who included Yaya, Balotelli, Silva and Aguero and I thought to myself "you've no fucking idea of how lucky you are to be supporting City now"

Exactly what I say to my lads Ric, you don't know how lucky you are. I took both my lads to Wembley against Gillingham, one was just over two saying we may never go again, he's 20 now and a regular and seen us win two league titles, happy days !

I hope now you also thought

* "thank fuck we got rid"

My lad's young/old enough to have had the piss ripped out of him by Oldham fans in the dark days at school, he really appreciates us now

It's the kids appearing now who I worry will have a raggy mentally that worry me. Having a little humility is a lovely trait.

I was born in 1977 both my kids have seen City win as many top flight honours as me. My eldest at least can remember me going through the ringer the last season under Pearce as we barely stayed up. It's unbelievable to think I've took them to away games several times and they've only seen one defeat. I remember going to many as a kid and a win was a rare thing. I'm not jealous at all, I try and remind them never to take things for granted in the hope they keep their feet on the ground. I just hope they don't ever become raggish and expect major honours the moment they take it for granted is the time I've failed!

You need to get Gary James to dig out some old footage of the likes of Bradbury, Frontzeck, Creaney, Pollock etc etc to show to Ric jnr. Then tell him he should thank his lucky stars he wasn't around between, say, 1995 and 2010.

The youngsters know no different and are in for a shock. It is the ones in 30s and 40s that are more blessed, but not the 50 plus ones as they seem to think the 66-76 team can never be bettered due to nostalgia.

Only this.

My lads 18 been taking him since he was about 5. He still wears his "I was there when we were shit" badge.
Gets real upset if i mention that he's been spoiled.

Never had aggro at Leeds, been crushed on the Kippax or pissed in a sink? They are deprived, Ric.
