Cover versions better than original (merged)

You must be fucking joking mate.
Absolutely not.

I'm a Bowie obsessive - even in my own embarrassing days as a terrible musician, I modelled my stage persona on Ziggy Stardust. But as good as Man Who Sold The World is, I just think the Nirvana version sounds better - the hooks are played better, the guitars a layered better, and it doesn't have that annoying noise throughout.

Probably Bromide.
Been a long time since those heady days of marching up and down the square but who knows what the long term effects may have been!

However I stand by Richie on this. I love both versions, hell I can play them both note for note on guitar, but Richie's cover triggers a stronger emotional response than George does.

Beverley Knight absolutely nailed Twist and Shout.

It would have caused quite a stir back in the day. I love it.

Probably mentioned before but worth a second mention ...

The original Simon & Garfunkel track was good but the extra edge to this makes it better for me (if only 'cos I always fancied the drummer!!!)
