Etihad atmosphere

The match day experience is too watered down now, especially for a lot of our old-school support. Obviously the love for City is still there but it's just too much money and shite atmosphere. Still keep going back for more though, but I just fee there's something missing. Maybe that's the price of becoming hugely successful club, but then again it's the same at every club in the country now. I think the demographic of match goers now has gotten a lot older, and shifted more to the middle class.

Plus, it helps if you can go stand with your mates, but that is very difficult now as all seated.

Some of the vocal fans have been priced out or up (to the 3rd tier) and it will get worse if/when NS3 is done.

SSL was the cheapest area when we moved, now it is over £34 a game on average if you want to keep your loyalty points, which is expensive for start if you plan to go to 40 or 50 games per season.

Even Moonchester is getting obese as the club have been charging more and more until this season whilst reducing merit based away allocations.

I think it will get worse when the North Stand is done also.

It is a problem that fans dont sing but also the layout of the ground and pricing structure do not help either.

Like you said many singers have moved to SSL3, as I have, but up there you cannot hear or see the singing section so its possible to interact or join in.

The price of season tickets as you say is cheaper up top and many singers have moved up there, when that happens in the North Stand also the problem will be exacerbated.

With city having been all seater since the 94/95 season, for 22 years - i'm a bit sick of the whining the last few season about boo hoo i can't go stand with my mates. Have we been whingeing about atmosphere for 22 years?

Prices and the rules and corporate side of things can have altered atmosphere yes - i'm skint for example, but fans have sat for 22 years - in fact if anything they've had it easy the last 5 years with city letting certain blocks stand anyway!

Atmosphere was reasonable tonight considering there was nothing to play for. Celtic noisy but I've heard louder from quite a few other European clubs fans.

Mouthy red on Facebook going on about lack of atmosphere but I thought on TV we came across alright, especially considering it was a meaningless kick about.

Think the whole "city have got shit fans" myth has just become standard practice now for every home match whether it's true or not. Quite embarrassing for them really, years ago it used to be that the only thing they couldn't take the piss out of us for was our support, now it's literally all they've got left. Makes me smile really.

Just stay off Facefuck

Fuck me Celtic have a big repertoire of songs.

Seemed like we sang about five in comparison.
This is one of the big big problems with us. We've got no songs!

We have got about four songs about City we sing and that's it. Player chants are the only ones that ever get made up these days but they aren't the chants you sing in close games to get behind the team. It's the City chants that need singing and we have a simple few.

Celtic were nowhere near as good as some of the other fans who've been to our ground, like Aris. But their songs are miles better than most of the German fans because their songs have proper words and lots of them and most are pro-Celtic (of course the odd few aren't). I didn't hear the word "Rangers" all night from them. Can we say the same about our songs and United? Even our club superstar's chant is as much about United as it is Kun.

We need some City chants!

Exactly my thoughts mate - see my post just after yours.

Thought the light show with the mobiles was quite well coordinated by them...most of the ones behind me in the family stand got chucked out though after the stewards had evidence as to who they were :-)

Some catchy ones with a good tune that basically have no words like that one Oh Oh Oh we are Celtic. All of our new songs are about players or managers - I can't actually remember the last one which was plain and simply about City?
I think the last City chant we came up with was The Best Team In The Land And All The World. How old is that one, 15 years ago when we came up with that?

I don't think we've had a new City chant since.
