Will We Do Business in the Winter Window?

Will we do business in the Winter window?... I'm now thinking it's much more likely than not.

Our team seems to be just slightly off - both defensively and offensively - who might improve us in the Winter window long term - I'm not sure.

But Pep is meticulous - if anyone can substantially improve us - and better yet, isn't cup tied - then he'll have been identified.

It would't surprise me that we bring in 2 players in the Winter window. Especially that I think it's more likely than not that we can sell Yaya in the window.

Jesus in - Yaya out - and one or two more good/great players coming in - that would be huge!

cant see anything happening other than the arrival of GJ

There will be the usual baseless rumours (like the one the media is trying to grow already about Griezman) but tis click bait for websites and headlines nothing more.

We do need a bit more (especially in the left back area and centre half - for me Ottomendi is becoming a bit of a liability and VK may not get back on the pitch)

Good luck getting great players in January.......

As I just posted in the Mahmoud Dahoud thread if we want him it looks like we will have to do it in January, otherwise he may be off to Dortmund.

YaYa is going to china right?
Please say yes.....please!!!!!!!
I can't bear another Seluk spring

Doubt we'll sell Touré because of his usefulness in the physical games during winter.
Personally I like Otamendi and I don't think we need to replace him.
Navas will be back home at last this time next year but personally I don't want him to leave in January, I hope he stays long enough to win another trophy or two.
Fernando is an absolute must-keep if we want to win the league. It will be a much tougher job without him.
None of the full-backs are likely to go just yet because I don't think Maffeo or Angelino are quite there yet.
Caballero is another I would like to stay, not just for the rest of the season, but as long as we can keep him. Is he amazing? No. But he's one of us.

As for incomings, I think Jesus will be all. We're not a club that often dips into the January window. Possibly, if someone gets a long term injury or someone leaves, we'll buy a replacement.

The Winter transfer window is - generally speaking - not a good time for elite clubs to conduct transfer business. Typically, player selection is limited in the Winter window,; moreover available players will often be ineligible for UCL, having played previously in the competition for their current club.

That said, we need upgrades for our fullbacks and, unfortunately, Kompany seems to be always injured - so we could use another world class centerback.

Moreover, that Pep chose to play Fernando as our pivot against Spurs, with predictably disastrous results, argues that we desperately need another world-class player capable of playing the lone pivot as well (I don't think that Gundogan is quite capable of this; Garcia, on the other hand might fill this role, but since Garcia wasn't selected to play against Spurs, perhaps there's a question mark over Garcia as well).

So what do you think?

Will we try to conduct business in the Winter transfer window - and if so, whom do you think we'll try to sign?
Gabriel Jesus will be like a January buy... don't need anyone else this window.

I doubt whether there will be any incomings in January. But I think we should be looking at buying as long as the calibre of player is available which is debatable.

Evident we need to strengthen in both the full back areas and also a top class CB

Gabriel Jesus coming is big news already though I expect he'll not have an impact until the summer as is the norm for winter buys.

Honestly barring an out of the blue opportunity it's highly unlikely we'll buy anyone, us and the other big guns are getting wise to how hard it is to buy in this window. If anything mad as it sounds we're more likely to end up selling than buying, Yaya perhaps making his exit.

Their season finishes on December 4th. That gives him near enough a month off before coming to City in January. I'm hoping that bit of extra rest might help him make more of an immediate impact, although of course he'll still need to learn how the team plays.

If we offload Bony to China for a decent fee I can see us using that money to bring in Van Dijk.
With a tall commanding presence at the heart of the backline and the quick hardworking goalthreat from GJ I can see the 3-3-3-1 working much better.

Aguero
G. Jesus --- De Bruyne ----Sterling
----Silva ------Gundogan
Fernandinho
Otamendi Van Dijk Stones
Bravo

Caballero, Kolarov, Fernando, Toure, Nolito, Sane, Iheanacho.

That Line up looks amazing. Though i'd take Nolito over Sterling at the moment.

I don't know if he has renewed with BM but could Xabi Alonso be a temporary guy we could use now that Gundogan Will be out for a long time?

decent team that!

Whatever Txiki says, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us buy someone, especially if Bony goes to China.

It's difficult.

Should we? I don't know.

Yes, we urgently need an overhaul at the back and a midfielder to help Fernandinho's load now Ilkay is injured, but we've bought in Summer and I'd argue that none of them have settled yet.

Stones certainly hasn't. Sane certainly hasn't. Nolito is good in patches but prone to going awol too.

Perhaps mixing it up more is the wrong thing to do right now and bedding the others in is a priority, even if it means leaving us weak at the back for now.
