watching games against scouse and rag always brings me into a feverish hatred of them.
All a bit sad for a 51 year old.

But, I fucking hate them and their holy crusaders trying to con the world they are special.

They are not. They got lucky with money and manager and had their time.

Now it's all a bit more equal and they hate it.

Fuck off scouse and your candles.

You should try being 65 mate.

I've had 14 years longer than you. I get up earlier now so that I can hate em both longer. It's part of my life force.

Horrible cnuts.

The scenes every time their bus arrived at the ground.

The poems on RAWK.

The "we don't let this fucking slip" speech.

Hahahaha. What a few weeks.

I enjoyed the BBC joining in with the hysteria on the eve of the City game, referencing the fixture as "Liverpool's day of destiny" on the 6 o'clock news and not even mentioning us! Utter cnuts. Gerrard slipping on his arse, followed immediately by Edin scoring inside 3 minutes at Palace then, made for one of the best afternoons of my City supporting life

1. First line is hilarious. The same patronising shit United have come out with for years, whilst being completely consumed with rage every time we beat them......which is often. The reason I know it's bullshit is that I've been married into a family of red Scouse from Liverpool for 20 years. The spite reserved for City (not from my in-laws, but from many of their friends that I've met down the years) since the takeover has been absolutely clear cut, chiefly because of your own self-regard. Part of the brain of every Liverpool fan I know is stuck in 1983, 26 years without winning the league airbrushed from history, and they can't cope with the notion that City are now a bigger draw than they are (maybe not in terms of a global fanbase yet - although we're catching up fast - but certainly in terms of players and sponsors). You've only got to look at the hysterical overreaction to Raheem Sterling joining us to realise that. John Barnes, John Aldridge, Jason McAteer, Phil Thompson, they were on speed dial on Sky and Talkshite for about 3 months afterwards, bitching and whining and encouraging the faithful in the notion that it was an incomprehensible outrage that anyone should not want to play for Liverpool, that Sterling was motivated solely by greed and so on and so on, and generally fuelling the animosity that now exists. Ignore Sterling on Saturday and I might be able to accept that the game is a B lister for you, but you won't. You'll all boo, get bug eyed with rage and turn Klanfield into a bear pit. Whatever, the rags I'll give you and maybe Everton, even though the game itself is an annual non-event, but Arsenal, Chelsea? Yeh, right.

2. Second line. You're quite correct. The way we play is a perfect fit for the way you play, which is why you beat us so often. Similarly, you can't cope with the way United play, but we can.

3. You can't have watched Fernandinho very often if you think he's slow.

4. I didn't see Joe Allen or any other Liverpool player bullying Ya Ya at Wembley last year. He ran the show. Granted in the league game at the Etihad he was a lazy, disinterested disgrace, but now he's got a manager who's taken a hard line with his weight and attitude, I doubt you'll be seeing the old Ya Ya on Saturday

Fine post overall. They froth at the mouth when they play against us — and anyone who doubts that should just take a look around at the Etihad or Anfield — and I'm utterly convinced that they see us as the upstart club that took what they see as their rightful place in the top four from them. They could just about cope with having the scrap from the beginning of the 90s with the rags and the arse. Then when Abramovich came along, that added a complicating factor. Then when we had the takeover, that was just too much. In the last six years, they've often been out of the top four. And yes, I can more easily read threads on Redcafé than I can on RAWK. They are probably the most condescending set of fans in this country.

I have City as my #2 favourite team, ever since Svennis did his thang. I enjoyed Pelegrinis style of football and I admire Pep's way of playing football and evolving the sport.

I don't care much for rivalry (except for United), so when I list City as Liverpool fans #4 rival, it is not meant as an insult or a smug remark. It is simply my subjective opinion, after spending way too much time on Liverpool forums.

As for seing Fernandinho, I see more than half of City's games.

We will see (or not) how well Yaya works out together with Fernandinho.

He is good at passing lines and triangle play when in possession. And he can sprint as well as most up and down. But he can't match the intensity of top forwards in the PL. Both in press/counter press and in his ability to cover side-to-side. He cover well when he sit back, but if you want to match the intensity of a high press team, playing Fernando/Fernandinho and Yaya as DM:s will surely make your team fall short in speed/pace and mobility against players like Lallana, Firmino, Mané, Origi (or Alli, Eriksen, Lamela and Son, if you will). Especially if they push high and press high.

With that said, if City can play past the press, the pace will not be a factor.

There was some long poem about how, Coutinho scored v us in the 70 something minute and he wears a certain shirt number and if you add those 2 together you get 96
FFS
I'm not going over the top when I say I find them ( scousers ) embarrassing

We may as well give you the three points now, I mean what good is our title and medal winning midfield against the likes of the Southampton Superstar Rejects 11..

Everything I wanted to say has been summed up by your excellent post. Hats off to you my friend

Laughing thinking about Britt Ekland in the Carry On film a couple of days ago with his/her liberal use of 'esses' on the end of words.

I'd guess he's full of shit apart from the lack of any knowledge about Fern is the 'second favourite team's tag line.

Hey dipper we don't fucking care, our second favourite team is our EDS lads, then U18's, U16's etc.

Yup agree with all of that. The RAWK aspect is definitely true. The fact that they always grandiosely refer to themselves as 'Liverpool Football Club' rather than just 'Liverpool' is a good indicator of their self reverence as well, as is having a terrace anthem as pompous as the 'Fields of fucking Athenry' (or whatever they call their version). I hate that song even more than Spurs' stupid slow version of 'Oh when the Saints'

The general consensus about this game from pundits seems to be... oh wait... exactly the same as it was before the Arsenal and United games. So I'm going with a 1-2 away win. Sterling to score... pleeeeaassseee.

One of the main reasons we beat you at Wembley was that, unusually, Pellegrini handed Fernandinho an inside right role, in which he completed negated the threat of Coutinho. Fernandinho finishes top 3 in the Player of the Season awards at City every year. With the possible exception of that grasper Milner, he's the fittest player I've ever seen, a relentless running machine, who can also play football. You need to look a little deeper, because whilst Fernando has obvious limitations and, due to age and size, so does Ya Ya, you seldom if ever get less than 7 out of 10 from Fernandinho. He's quality week in week out

Yeah have to agree we have been written off before every big this season and apart from spurs we deserved to win every game. Heard that turd nolan on talkshite this morning saying he sees the rags replacing us in the top 4 .

Agree about Fernandinho but disagree about Milner. He has got what he wanted, something more than money (although he would be daft not to like that too), he is an integral part of their team, and an automatic selection every game. I accept I am in the minority, but that's something I think we should have given him. Every team thrives with a player (or more) like him

I'd say United, Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal are bigger matches for us Liverpool fans.

Both Rodgers and Klopp do well against teams that has a high line and likes to pass their way out from the back. It fits the high press very well. The only time we didn't look good against City was when Klopp decided to use Sturridge up front and throw away the press game.

It is why I'm fairly certain that Sturridge will not start.

And often City has used slow and immobile DM:s, such as Fernando, Yaya or Fernandinho. They have often ended up chasing shadows.

It surprises me that so many want Yaya on the pitch. He is seen by many Liverpool supporters as the weak defensive link. Even our Joe Allen haters used to joke about "The only player Allen could bully was Yaya".
Are your knuckles sore when you have been for a walk :-)

I'm surprised that so many of you are giving the time of day to some crank from Sweden, who's closest encounter with Anfield was probably getting too familiar with a Glenn Hysen photo.

He used the homegrown quota issue to string us along for 18 months knowing that a pot of "signing on fee" gold lay at the end of the rainbow. And as I recall part of his mantra was that he wanted to play in midfield. Curious then that he's not making a song and dance about having to play left back at Klanfield. City fans were pretty good to Milner, but his in your face goal celebration against us last year was the final severing of good will as far as I was concerned.
