Jack Pitt-Brook has written a decent article in today's Independent:

This bit could be particularly pertinent, as Guardiola mentioned about Liverpool attacking the inside channels, rather than out wide, in yesterday's press conference.

But that win was followed by another bad defeat to Dortmund, suffering once again on the break. This meant that when the teams met in the 2014 German Cup final, Guardiola again had to find a new system. Their natural game was too vulnerable. So, as revealed in Marti Perarnau’s revelatory books about Guardiola, he went for a 3-6-1, realising that Dortmund liked to counter down the inside channels, rather than out wide. Those were the spaces Bayern had to shut down. It worked, with Bayern winning 2-0 in extra time.

Wonder if he'll pack the midfield tonight for similar reasons? Not sure we've got the players to do it, and wouldn't like to see the return of a back three, but get the feeling Guardiola won't pick the team that most are predicting on here.

We dont have the players

just get ready for the scoucers on the refs back for the whole game shouting and screaming for everything, fucking do my head in.

THIS could be the match that really kick starts our title challenge. WIN and we put pressure on all around us and close the gap to the cockney twats. LOSE, and we will have to listen and watch the media in meltdown as they hail Victimpool as slayers.

We have beat the rags and arsenal. A win here would be massive. Genuinely believe we will win this. Come on city

4-2-3-1 with Yaya alongside Dinho might limit those counters. To be honest, I'll be mightily pissed off if we leave ourselves open to counters in the first half anyway, as Pep should be keeping it tight.

I'll put my fucking telly through the window if we are 2 down in 20mins through being too gung ho early doors.

I'm convinced Pep will pack the midfield and it wouldn't surprise me to see 3 at the back. Either way Pep will have a plan to counter Liverpool. I just pray the plan works.

It would cause outrage on here, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if Aguero was omitted, as at Barca away, so that we could pack the midfield. De Bruyne as a false nine?

It wouldn't actually bother me in the slightest.

I imagine Aguero has been chomping at the bit in training though, so a difficult decision. If he's fired up, he would probably score.

It will be interesting to see what happens today. The obvious potential for a defensive calamity is there, but that exists in every game. So far as tactics etc, this will be the first time in many years, we have played against Liverpool, with a team that runs about. So previous encounters are not necessarily that relevant.

I won't be remotely surprised if he doesn't start, for the very reason you suggest. Wouldn't it be great to see him come on and score in about 15 seconds, as he did against Liverpool (I forget the match but the one where Kun came on, picked it up at the half way line and ran straight through and scored.)

According to the Beeb, Kun has never scored at Anfield in 7 visits - 5 with City and 2 with Atletico. Time to break that barren spell.
