New Saints Break Ajax Record

Why is it? A world record is a world record, doesn't matter in what context.

Roy Castle and Chris Akabusi agree :)

Both points have merit............ however Paul Moulden once got 340 goals in a season - the level you are playing at does define how you fare - that Ajax team may have had Cruyff in it amongst others but what was the standard of the opposition in those days?

Agreed, all the record says is that Ajax were as dominant in the Dutch league as TNS are in the Welsh league. And in those days Ajax was pretty much the Dutch national side, so the rest of the teams apart from Feyenoord probably didn't add up to much.

The difference in quality between Ajax and the other Dutch sides could well have been greater than TNS and the other Welsh sides so it could actually be a greater achievement for TNS

The top Welsh teams play in the English league system so although they have broken the record in thier country's top tier, they aren't a top team in their country.

Still fair play though. I lived in Wales for a bit and it's a top place and they're right to be proud of being their own country.

Just shows how amazing the Ajax record was that it's only been bettered on sort of a technicality.

Ironic that TNS are English.
