I may be wrong,dunno,sure someone will know.
My understanding is.....if it's a genuine attempt to play the ball,the ref can give the penalty but not send the player off.
If it ain't a genuine attempt to play the ball,the ref can give the penalty and send the player off.
Weather you are running away from goal or not,I'm not sure on,dunno if that also changed?
