Not neccessarily.... He has to adjust to an awful lot of stuff, and he isnt always going to be like the promo videos we see, I do think people expect too much of him, much like Sane.. It will take time I think.

If you take his highlights videos in isolation, it would be ridiculous to assume he plays like that for 90 mins, if he did, he would already be the best player the world has ever seen.

But, those highlights come from games, often where the standard of service he gets, is fucking beyond abysmal. He can be stood in open space, ten times & only get a pass the 11th. He can be in front of an open goal & watch Neymar try to backheel his way past 6 players rather than pass it. Most of the passes he gets for Palmeiras involve chasing the ball, controlling it with his neck or heading it. When it arrives at his feet, the typical challenge goes right hrough the back of his ankle. Prem defenders are pussies by comparison.

For Brazil, he is an afterthought, when plan A is: pass it to Neymar & Neymar's plan A is: pass it to Neymar.

So yes, occasionally when he does finally get a pass, he attempts something ambitious & it doesn't come off. Other times, he lays it off perfectly first time & goes for a return ball. Other times, he does the stuff in the video.

That's why this kid is so good. Not because he does that stuff all the time, butbecause he has managed to do it, when half the time he doesn't even see the ball.

Here are some examples of his dodgy first touch & dribbling problems. I think him & Neymar need to work on it.

Hahaha - perfect response.

I had to resist the temptation to reply to the other post that mentioned his dodgy first touch as I wasn't quite sure what to write without it sounding confrontational.

Same. He is raw or unpolished in some respects, and does have his flaws at the moment like any teenager - but first touch and close control really isn't one of them. I can only assume those posters saw a game where a few balls didn't stick to his feet and made their minds up that he had a poor first touch.

I hope he is protected well. I trust he has strong shin pads. This is kid is awesome and will be kicked to hell over the park like Silva used to be (still is) I know he is strong and give it out also. Let us pray that Pep has him restrained in regards to reacting the tackles. Don't want another south american missing a third of the season through suspension
All being well he can propel us through a few more rounds of the champions league. Cannot wait.

This guy will light up,the premier league terrify defences. I can't wait, I hope he starts against Spurs they won't know what's hit them.

Personally I'd of gone with the latter (;

Again some are unable to grasp what is actually written, if there's one person I'd be listening to with regards to the kids attributes it's @Neville Kneville...

Where the hell this idea of a poor first touch has manifested from I have no idea...

On the flip side, he is being hyped up, and it 'could' be detrimental to his impact, however, having watched him numerous times, I'm convinced he's the type of player who may feed off the excitement that is resonating.... The problem we have with a number of our core support is not affording players time (should it be a slow start)...

One thing is for sure though is he's expected to be the 'new' face of MCFC, it will be what half the sales pitch was about, replacing the old guard and bringing in the new era... No pressure then (:

I know i should try and be realistic but this lad feels unlike anything we have had before. I've only seen a couple of his Brazil games and then the highlight youtube vids, but wow he looks incredible, for me the most exciting signing i can remember since Kun. I know he will need time to settle in and has a lot of improving to do, but i cannot wait to see him play in a City shirt now.

Just waiting for a BBC article now about how his dream was to play for the rags but they passed on the option to sign him.

Tbf, I have watched a lot of his games for Palmeiras this season & the treatment he, & other strikers get, is like a throwback to watching Ron 'Chopper' Harris. It really is like nothing we are used to here.

Half the time, there is no card given. If you stay on your feet, it's not a free kick but there are actually so many free kicks, the games are mostly free kicks. And that is my concern re Jesus. His method is to make sure he hits the deck when anyone goes near him, because otherwise there is no foul. But he also tries to do he Ronaldo thing, & get the player booked. It's all logical in that football, but not suitable for City.

But the biggest worry is, that he's tough as old boots & likes to give it back. He will get carded for it here & mainly red. So Pep has to stop him, immediately.

The only negative's I've read is like you say "he likes to give it back", the other is,he's "apparently" pretty poor at watching the line and is "apparently" caught offside quite a lot.
Could just be a burst of speed and he looks offside, dunno.
It's a minor fault if true and will be easily corrected,IMO.
As for every other aspect of his game,I can't wait to see him play.

Trying him against one of the meanest defences in the prem (physically), would be a mistake (IMO)

Pep will go with his 'feel' thing wot he does.

But from what I've seen of the kid's ability to suddenly change a game out of nothing, when barely seeing the ball, he would appear to be the perfect potential substitute, if a defence needs opening up. And a complete unknown to any oppo defenders.

But let's face it, we have no idea what Pep will do & neither do Spurs ;)

Maybe, on the offside thing. But I have deffo seen him given offside on several occasions when he's on as well.

But we also have to weigh the times he's caught against the times when it's worked & he's got a goal out of it. Bit like Gary Lineker in that respect imo.

I don't recall him getting caught too often due to being dozy strolling back as per Serge/Bony/Dzeko/Balotelli etc though.

I think he'll be on the bench against Everton, but think he could start against Spurs. Difficult opposition, admittedly, but it might be better to give him his full debut at home.

I think he'll be given a few outings from the bench, partly to settle him in, but also to see how he fits in with the other players (especially Aguero) in different formations.

really wish we cracked the 3 at the back this first half of the season. pretty sure pep didn't try much 3 at the back at the first season at bayern, but he tried it a fair few times here. maybe it's because he thinks the fullbacks are crap and not worth using or he was gearing up to use a 3-5-2 formation.
would love to see g. jesus up top with aguero. it would allow aguero to not be the only one pressing up top, might help get aguero get a bit of service, or allow g. jesus to work on the shoulder and aguero to drop into space between the lines.

not sure i like the idea of putting jesus on the left wing. firstly that's where my boy sane plays and with de bruyne and aguero central, we have enough goal threat through the middle, we need someone to attack the byline and not cut inside (which is why i love sane left and sterling right).

I think Pep's not afraid to chuck players in to see how they do, definitely wouldn't rule out an early start.

I also think in a big game like the Spurs one he'd love the tactical advantage from chucking this complete wildcard into the mix, surprising everyone and leaving Pochettino with a headache over how to play against a player they'll have seen almost nothing of.
