Gabriel Jesus

Yep, agree with pretty much all of that. I worry that some Blues are expecting the Messiah with this kid, cos whenever I've seen him (and it's been limited to 3 or 4 Brazil games), he's occasionally looked a bit raw. Scores goals, scorching pace, decent control in tight situations, but the same issues Sterling sometimes has when running with the ball, heavy touches, etc. One for the future for Pep to mould IMO. Looking forward to seeing him in action though

Has it really been such a dreadful problem for Sterling that it should be looked upon as some kind of disappointment, if Jesus only beats players like Sterling does ?

Did we not pay 50 million quid for Sterling, having seen these 'issues' ?

This kid isn't like anyone in particular & he doesn't even need to beat one player in a match, because he's smart & he doesn't mind passing it. A lot smarter than Aguero imo.

Few weeks before GJ will be ready.
Exciting Pep reckons he won't play as an out and out winger but more of a support striker as he's expected to score goals as he does as No 9 for Brazil to support Sergio

I think we're all looking forward to seeing him, the recent realization of the squads quality has left a lot of us a little discouraged. Jesus will give everyone a lift.

Hopefully we see some of that tonight. Don't mean Jesus himself, but the rest of the squad and particular the ones out there on the pitch.

I've seen 3 or 4 of his games since we were linked with him, not in the stadium, but watched the whole game. It's not as good as being there, but obviously you get a much better grasp than watching Youtube highlights.

From what I saw he is seriously quick. I mean absolute lightning from a standing start, like Walcott quick. He's

also a fighter / a grafter. His determination reminded me a bit of Tevez, not frightened of anyone and will fight for every ball. I don't think the physicality of the PL is going to a big obstacle for him, although he does tend to make a huge meal of it when he gets fouled, which referees and opposing fans will get on to very quickly.

I have to say on the negative side though, I was a bit worried about his first touch. He reminded me of Iheanacho a bit in that he's clearly an intelligent player, clearly has excellent technique and huge potential, but he does sometimes miscontrol / take a heavy touch and give the ball away. Maybe this is just nerves, or the eagerness of youth, or he's still developing his technique, I'm not sure. He's technically very good, but he's not at the level of Sane or Sterling at controlling and running with the ball imo. Yet. He's obviously still developing.

I think people expecting him to come in and take the league by storm and expect him to drag us to the title are expecting too much too soon from him. He's 19 years of age. Probably the best 19 year old I've ever seen was Anelka, and I don't think he's close to the level he was at the same age. I think more realistic comparisons are Sane and Iheanacho - huge huge talents, among the best in the world at their age, definitely ready to play at the top level, but not yet quite at the level to be playing in every game and being a key member of the team.

I expect him to come in and do well - maybe have two good games followed by an indifferent one. I'm sure he'll score a few goals for us. But those expecting him to come in and tear the league apart, be our best player and win the Balon D'Or in his first season are going to be disappointed I think.

Don't want that to sound like a downer - he's probably the signing I've been most excited about at City after Aguero, but I just don't want people to heap unrealistic expectations on the lad. Let him settle in and develop a bit before we expect match winning performances every week.

Thanks for that.

It would tally with what I have heard Tim Vickery day.
Especially first touch , he seems very excited by him.

And he was spot on with Otamendi.

Has pep said when he's looking to get him playing for the first team?

No, but he has mentioned that Jesus has only missed training for 3 weeks. Which suggests that Pep is thinking of introducing him fairly soon. Although I expect it will be a gradual process

Not neccessarily.... He has to adjust to an awful lot of stuff, and he isnt always going to be like the promo videos we see, I do think people expect too much of him, much like Sane.. It will take time I think.

I don't know if it mean anything, but he is listed as a City player by the PremierLeague.com website. Not sure if that means he's cleared to play.

Going off Guardiola's press conference it doesn't sound like he's going to play, but he might just be being clever about that. The subsequent games are difficult: Everton (a) and Spurs (h) so I'd be looking to get game time and experience into him asap, but if he has only had a couple of training sessions, then maybe West Ham would come too soon anyway.

Jesus has played and excelled as No. 9 for Brazil, probably the most pressurised position in world football. He could handle the expectation. The bigger problem might be adapting to the move. I expect it will come down to Guardiola's assessment of him in training

Here are some examples of his dodgy first touch & dribbling problems. I think him & Neymar need to work on it.

Be a little less blinkered for once.

We all hope he will be world class.

Your commitment to young city players cannot be doubted. From Devante Cole onwards.

From what I see his raw talent is phenomenal.

I could also post many first touches that are not so good .

Stop building him up as better than Tevez Tec. Give him 12 months and maybe he will fulfil all our dreams.

I didn't actually do any of that. I said I think he's a more intelligent footballer than Tevez, which imo he is. He sees things. I said he's better than Anelka was at that age, which imo he is. Anelka was lazy & greedy by comparison. He probably is better than Tevez etc technically imo, but that has yet to be proven, so it's not something I will claim to be true.

What I do know is that any time he loses the ball, it is absolutely not down to any lack of comparable 'touch'. Wrong decision, attempting something & fucking it up, basically any reason Aguero would make a similar mistake. Not a problem controlling the ball anymore than Aguero has a problem controlling the ball.

He is keeping Firminho out of the Brazil team, because he's better than him. Hpopefully we see that straight away, but if it takes a year, so be it.

And I'm assuming that the reason you are belttling my opinion is because you have watched him many times yourself, and disagree ?
