Our combi boiler sounds like a fog horn

Ever since we moved in it's occasionally done this every few hours or so. This last week has been fucking unbearable, we've even had to turn the heating off at night because it was keeping us and the neighbours up.
We had our yearly gas check and boiler service earlier in the week and we mentioned it the blokes who didn't have a clue and wasn't that fucking interested tbh.
When it goes off, it lasts for anything from a couple of seconds to almost a minute. I'm hope the plumbing and heating gurus on bm can identify the problem, and no, I don't know what make of boiler it is.
It's going off about 3 times an hour. On the plus side, at least when it's foggy we would be safe from passing oil tankers, even if we are about 60 fucking miles inland.

Boiler or pipes making the noise? Or a radiator thermostat valve? Does it do it on higher or lower temperature settings (the control on the boiler not the room stat)?

Maybe it's on the domestic hot water circuit. When it happens try running a hot tap (or cold tap).

At least you might narrow down possible causes.

We have the heating set on a constant 19 degrees. Running the hot water doesn't make a difference. It we start it up from cold it takes about 30 minutes before it starts making the noise, so the temp doesn't seem to matter.

When they came and serviced the boiler he turned down the temp on the boiler and said it might make a difference. Tbf it has, it's made it worse.

Cracked me up that bit, something Bill Murray would say with 0 emotion on his face.

It's true. Before they serviced it the noise was an inconvenience to us and the neighbours. Now it's a nuisance. It's going off about 3 or 4 times an hour for about a minute a time. I was putting some empties in the bottle bin earlier(which is next to the outlet pipe) and it went off. It was that loud I couldn't hear the bottles crashing into the bin.

Hmm that sounds more than an annoyance tbf. There are a few lads who do plumbing on here i think right so someone should pipe up and know the issue. Maybe state the make and model of the boiler, may help someone who knows that game.
