Thanks,he does it all the time which is a surprising lack of technique for his age and experience and i guess he won't be getting any better now

Here's a thing, he does it all the time because opposition are getting in behind our defence all the time so he has to cover angles.

Take that Lukaku goal, Mirallas gets in behind Toure, Bravo has to come near post to cover a shot from Mirallas, he then squares it, at which point Bravo moves back central.

You hear it all the time with headers, put it back the way it came because it is difficult for keepers to readjust when their body weight is taking them one way.

Every keeper has the same problems yet he is worse at it than most in the prem,if he was a kid then fair enough he could improve but it's a shocking technique for a keeper of his age,i'm sorry but it's all excuses

I'm still at a loss as to how he's gone from one of the top keepers in the world into being someone that I feel I'd have a good chance of ousting in my local Sunday league.

It can't be luck. I doubt it can be confidence (although his can't be high right now) and I can't fathom a keeper falling off a cliff at 33.

I also don't think it's "The Prem is different" because he's not being beaten by headers every week.

So what, in reality, is it?

That is a very good question,i hope pep knows the answer as we can't carry on like this,as much as i get on his back i want him to get better as the team will do better

It's not all excuses, can we not debate something without resorting to that? We are particularly weak when it comes to players getting beyond our defence because of the high line we play, naturally our keeper is going to be put in that situation a lot more often than a keeper playing behind a defence that sits deep, so no it's not every keeper.

He is used to playing behind a high line or do barca not do that? it seems to me he should be more experienced at it than others

I have said before that I didnt follow him before he joined us but I would hazard a guess that being Barcelona keeper is much easier than being the current City keeper. Maybe just maybe most keepers look world class in a Barca team that wins almost every week.

He was still making more saves per game for Barca and Chile than Hart was making for us.

He was an excellent keeper and was exceptional for Chile for the past half dozen years.

He's not showing one iota of that ability now. And given the defenders in front of him can't pass it out from the back, it's looking a huge mistake to change the keeper before changing the four in front of him.

Look at the videos I posted on the last page, he is more than capable, I can't fathom why he's not producing that type of form for us.

I don't doubt he could do it but i'm only really interested in now,as i said to sweep i hope pep knows why he is not doing it here as we have to find a solution, willy is not it but maybe the better option for now

But was there a huge amount of pressure when making those saves? By that I mean when you're playing for Barca and the team is winning by 4 or 5 goals most weeks, it surely makes youre job as a keeper a lot less stressful? This City team is million miles away from that Barca team he was playing in and when we concede, we are not looking overly likely to bang in 5 goals in reply.

At Chile he is a hero in a team of overachievers, im not saying its easy but he must walk out on the pitch for them feeling invincible. He must be crapping himself walking out for us.

As for choosing to change the keeper instead of the defenders, I have already made my feelings known on that. I thought it was a crazy decision at the time and nothing I have seen since has made me think otherwise.

So you think it's a confidence/pressure issue?

You're probably not wrong. Although there's probably a fair amount of pressure away at Madrid etc

I think when measured by the usual goalkeeper standards and attributes he is an average goalkeeper. He has however other attributes that given the right environment will make him look one of the very best e.g. a team that dominates possession and has a very good defence who are exceptional on the ball, we have the likes of Kolarov. I dont think he is in the right environment with this current City side. If we had changed the defence first and added Bravo later I think we may all have very different views on Bravo. Things are currently so bad though that I wouldnt be surprised if he wasnt around for the much needed defence upgrade.

I'd change the entire back five in January is I could. And being in another decent mobile midfielder. Fuck the league this year, could only help next season anyway as Liverpool and Chelsea are showing.

But none of that will happen. We will get some decent wins and annoying defeats. And we will finish a place higher or lower than present and rebuild in the summer.

We could also do with learning how to finish a breakfast which would take some pressure off the over aged, over paid pillocks at the back.

Typo of the week. I know Peps likes to concern himself with detail but teaching them how to finish their breakfast is a tad overthetop.
Presumably you meant finish and break fast.
Gave me a good laugh especially as I am a regular typo merchant.
The rest of the post is spot on, unfortunately.

Don't think it's a typo, it's a derivative of the old 'he couldn't finish his dinner'. Something that has been levelled at many of our strikers over the years.

One of our attributes is actually breaking very fast. We just never get to do it.

Is it possible he's had his careers purple patch for the last few years?

I'm still adamant that he's not a bad keeper, I think he's simply struggling with the demands to the Premier League. He does need to make a few more saves, but I don't think he's the big issue yet.
