I'm not a Trump fan but he hasnt ever said he doesnt back Nato, more that he believed it to be unfair that the US pay in a lot more than every other nation and some of the other nations need to stump up more.

He said it was obsolete last week. And that people need to pay more. Those two things aren't the same.

Under his reasoning, isn't it reasonable the nations see putting money into an 'obsolete' organisation as folly and irresponsible?

He has endorsed torture and driven a bus through any moral high ground the US sought to hold.

How can we exert pressure on medieval regimes to end their horrific human rights record when we have the leader of the free world, who is a total utter **** who also advocated killing the wives and children of insurgents and terrorists.

It's like Trump is starring in his own disaster movie, fucking horrendous acting and dialogue that makes your teeth itchy. A man that needs psychiatric help but instead is bullying a smaller poorer country to pay for his wall.

It's like a bully in a playground stealing weaker children's dinner money and nobody does anything.

Cunts like that need fought to a standstill. I despise every fucked up atom in that degenerates body.

He's a bully, a coward and a scumbag.

So Trump's ban on certain Muslim countries is even banning those who already have visa's and green cards who have lived there for many years.

That he'd sign an executive order banning people on the basis of their supposed religion on Holocaust Remembrance Day is incredible.

Trump's executive order begins by invoking 9/11 three times.

9/11 hijackers were from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE & Lebanon

None of those countries banned. He has business links with the first three.

You need an upgrade. You are now a Scottish High Intelligence Officer.

Orange egomaniac who has already disgraced himself, undermined his SecDef and CIA head by telling them what he thinks, but that he will defer to their feelings on torture....as he promotes opening up new CIA Black Sites. Total arsehole of the highest order.

So far, he has just sat at a desk and signed "Orders from the King." One...withdrawing from TPP...is a joke! The US was never IN the TPP!

And, from his changed positions, so he could run as a Republican, he has shown he has no principles, no core beliefs, and knows no depths to which he will sink to be King.

He is a misogynistic oaf who believes he is better than everyone and knows more than everyone, even though he is less well read than my teenaged kids, and certainly of lower moral character. I struggle to find ANY redeeming value to him and his presence.

Don't try to overlay normal logic and intelligence on his comments on ANY issue. He is a charismatic **** who has bamboozled tens of millions of uneducated rural voters who believe the bullshit he shovels. He is simply spending his honeymoon period letting them think he is doing exactly what he said he would, by writing Executive Orders, many of which are worth less than the paper he signed them on, until Congress budgets the money required to enact them!

I can't see how that would stand if someone brought it to the Supreme Court - with the 1st Amendment right to freedom of religion.

You are as rabid as his hick supporters and about as balanced just on the opposite end of the scale. Not sure why you have quoted me ranting about Trump bringing in various issues that I hadnt commented on, my post was about NATO only, so going into yet another long winded tirade against the shitgibbon wasnt really needed.

During the election Clinton in her 'fact checking' said Trump has said we should pull out of NATO, she went too far with this assertion, and its been repeated time and time again by those that oppose Trump. Like I said I dont like Trump, you and your ilk with their blind hatred of the man are clouding your judgement of what he actually said. Trump said that he would “certainly look at” pulling the United States out of the international security alliance, if it remained “obsolete” which is reference to when it was set up and “is costing us a fortune” which it is in comparison to other nations. When you look at the breakdown of contributors he has a point, but as usual he used rhetoric that was designed to get a reaction, and it did of support from his believers and of condemnation from the likes of you.

Here is an exert from an interview he gave:

Charles Lane, Washington Post: So, I’d like to hear you say very specifically, you know, with respect to NATO, what is your ask of these other countries? Right, you’ve painted it in very broad terms, but do you have a percent of GDP that they should be spending on defense? Tell me more, because it sounds like you want to just pull the U.S. out.

Trump: No, I don’t want to pull out. NATO was set up at a different time. NATO was set up when we were a richer country. We’re not a rich country anymore. We’re borrowing, we’re borrowing all of this money. We’re borrowing money from China, which is sort of an amazing situation. But it was a much different thing. NATO is costing us a fortune and yes, we’re protecting Europe with NATO but we’re spending a lot of money. Number one, I think the distribution of costs has to be changed. I think NATO as a concept is good, but it is not as good as it was when it first evolved.

That doesnt sound like someone who wants to pull out of NATO to me but someone who wants a fairer deal.

Feel free to have another rant about him, its not like you havent had one from you for all of half an hour, someone will no doubt tell you how wonderful it is.

Trump is right all NATO members should pay the agreed 2% minimum contribution. Why should some pay less and still expect the same level of membership, while expecting others to pay more. Obama raised the issue also I believe. It's just that Trump clearly plays hardball to get things done. He's not prepared to just talk arround the issue like politicians are used to. It's interesting that the media don't seem keen to remind people that a wall already exists along the Mexico border near every town border crossing. In reality he just wants to extend what they have to stop a thousand people a day from illegally entering the country. I'm not a big fan of his, sonetimes he is clearly in the wrong imo, but people also clearly need to read between the lines or what he actually says and check their facts and not just panda to the left wing media hysteria.

Obama is on the record, in his last State of the Union address and in an Atlantic magazine interview not long afterwards as rejecting, a “world policeman” role for the US. Both he, and his former defence secretary, also criticised the lacklustre contribution to the alliance of some Europeans, when Trump does it then its all of a sudden really wrong.

You also have to take into consideration when and why NATO was set up, then what it became during the cold war, to now when there isnt an international threat to the member nations like there was when there was a Soviet Union. The threat has changed from the threat of a large conventional force, to smaller terrorist cells and cyber attacks, so therefore the defense has to change, to call NATO obsolete is maybe a step to far but it is obsolete in it current form to the threat that is posed to its member nations.

Well if you need a visa and a green card you arent a US citizen so the constitution and the 1st amendment is irrelevant. He's not looking to deport US citizens who are Muslims.
Fair point! Still, in the case Rasul vs Bush (2005 I think) the Court gave the right for Guantanamo inmates to have access to the federal courts, as Bush was restricting them to the military ones. That didn't concern US citizens, as Rasul was from one of the Middle-Eastern countries. The logic was that it was on US soil, so therefore the constitution applied. So, wouldn't this apply to Muslims from these countries that are already on US soil?

Maybe I'm not fully up on that case, Rasul was one of the Tipton Three wasnt he? That was different as they were being held in prison and had their rights restricted under unlawful imprisonment, it wasnt deportation which would therefore be a whole different case and unless they are US citizens the first amendment wouldnt concern them, which was more the point I was making.

Not too keen then ?

It's all about perception of the man. I say I hate him because I do. I hate what he stands for, what he promotes and what he represents.

I can't get by that. I also think his economic plans are deeply flawed and could trigger trade wars and fuel recessionary movement.

I think he us fostering hate and bring everybody in the west into disrepute by supporting torture.

He is using the America First neo nazi leaning movement of the 30's as a slogan to pander to racists and bigots.

His treatment of women, his mocking disabled people for a laugh.

I will continue to hate him for as long as he behaves like a ****.

Long term project me thinks unless he is impeached.

I will however take your point re NATO and not focusing on his wider issues.

Fair play, I did go off the central tenet.

A sense of balance, at last. Whatever you think of Trump, May, Obama or even Jeremy Corbyn, constantly
ranting like some purple faced brat denied yet another doughnut, over and over about your absolute disgust at their
inhabiting the world is tedious.

I dont like the bloke, and have been laying into him far before you were even a member on here mate, dont think I am a supporter of his, I'm not. A lot of what you say about him is valid but your hatred clouds your judgement somewhat, you cant see the wood for the trees.

I believe, when he is right, he is right and I think he was right about NATO. After all Obama basically said as much before Trump did, he was just more statesman like and expressed it in a better manner than the shitgibbon. The witch Clinton lied about what he thinks about NATO and the so called 'left' keep repeating it as fact.

People often forget the world isnt black and white but a multitude of shades of grey.
