Those equating Obama's immigrant policy to Trump's are being disingenuous or in other words typical Trump supporters.

Obama stopped processing applications for refugees from Iraq for 6 months due to advice from homeland security. There were criticisms of this at the time.

Trump has banned any entry for those from certain Muslim countries not just for refugees but those with visas, green cards and have lived in America for years. He has gone against the advice of his homeland security.

Could be a clever move from Trump though. Introduces an ill-thought out measure overnight which gets over-turned by the courts. He then claims he tried to keep an election promise but the judiciary blocked him. A bit like the right-wing press has done here over the legal challenge to the Brexit process. So his supporters then turn on the courts and the protestors.

It's gone dark so I've come in from the pool.

And it's not comparable as a blanket ban is totally different to background checks and allowing people you are happy to.

Who's Sean ? If a president really wants to stop needless killings of his citizens, I'd suggest looking closer to home to start with

. . . And, eventually, Congress. But I don't think such a tactic is limited to Trump. All part of the political process to offer an extreme starting position and then to negotiate it down. Trump is just playing higher stakes poker by leveraging the executive order in a far more sweeping way . . . Because he doesn't care about the negative impacts on those caught up in it, and because he's trying to screw his critics who said he was all talk. To Trump, shooting off a hand to cure a hangnail has been his modus operandi his entire life. It's who he is.
 
I may be oversimplifying this but I don't think there is anything wrong, if done properly, of suspending all visa applications from unstable/failed countries, until a more rigorous application process is put in place

Doing overnight, detaining people(for whatever reason) and using the 'keep America safe' line is an issue

There is already a rigorous process in place. It took my son nearly a year to get his Green Card and he's from England, white and non-Muslim.

I don't understand your reposte mate ?
I was merely examining in finer detail the member of parliaments opposing statements that had a hint of the karma surrounding there genetic makeup.

I don't believe this will be a blanket ban either.

They would not refuse Mo who is a knight of our realm.

Homeland security is one thing but refusing a knight of our blessed realm is tantamount to severing our special relationship
