Ok, I've seen this doing the rounds today. How does it, or doesn't it hold up.

My thoughts are seems heavily dependent on the fact that 2010 we were coming out of the financial crisis, and inflation would've affected it.

What are your thoughts?

Go on, back this up. But make it good as I've got the figures and a graph to hand.

Define stagnant, because my graph goes up nicely when corporation tax drops.
Here you are sweet cheeks: https://www.ft.com/content/8d5297f2-19de-11e7-bcac-6d03d067f81f

In the fourth quarter of last year, output of the UK economy per hour worked rose 0.4 per cent and it was 1.2 per cent higher than a year earlier, but this productivity growth rate still languishes far below what it was before 2007.

Without faster growth in output per hour, Britain’s economy will struggle to expand because growth can otherwise come only from higher hours worked or more people finding jobs, which will be harder to achieve because the UK employment rate is already very high. Productivity growth has been the missing part of the recovery since 2009 with output per hour worked and output per job barely higher than at the peak in 2007.

While productivity growth has fallen in the US, Japan, and most European economies, the UK slowdown has been the largest in the G7 group of leading economies.

I read these posts, with despair can we please get to the real Marxist world that Corbyn believes in. Growth of the economy does not figure in the mantra.
It is all about state control of everything. Anybody who has read Marx and Engels would know the stock market would be the first thing a true Socialist would close down.
It is everything the true Socialist would not want is to see foreign or indeed, any investment in our country. Clause four, in itself, dictates that state ownership is the order of the day.
The state in charge of all our lives is the ultimate. The freedom all the people now enjoy would be a thing of the past. Total dependency on the state, will follow.
Why do you think people wanted to escape from communist east Germany, why do you think the destruction of the Berlin Wall was met with such joy.
Be very careful what you wish for my fellow Citizens, because if you vote for a man, who is clearly anti capitalist, appeaser of murderers and will bankrupt the country, a decade of misery the country has never known since the thirties will surely follow.
We need to control immigration, we have enough people in this country to deliver all it needs, it is a lie that we need immigrants to fulfill this. We did not need immigration between 1939 to 1945 to keep our country mobilised against the German threat. We do not need it now. It is true that immigrants have filled gaps in our NHS, but that is down to our failure to train up our population. Are we saying that among our 65 million population we cannot train enough people to fulfil our needs? Total nonsense.
Please do not vote for a anti British party who will wreak havoc amongst the people I love, yes I love you all, if what I fear could happen, happens, you will see the end of forums like this, yes I have read Mark and Engels it is not the society you guys would want to live in, please believe me.
All the best to you all. Peggy.

There is no direct correlation between corporate tax rates and growth. It's as simple as that. Growth depends on a number of factors, in which corporate taxation may play a part. One linked factor is how much companies invest when they have higher retained profits but as productivity has largely been stagnant in the UK, while corporation tax has fallen, that hasn't been happening. So clearly companies have been saving cash rather than investing it. That doesn't help anyone.

Spain's rate is 28% yet their growth was higher than ours in 2016. Growth was also far higher when corporate tax rates were double what they are now.

Growth of the Spanish economy vs growth of the UK economy is not really a fair comparison as the UK GDP is 2.5 times the size of Spain. That means that 3% growth of our economy would generate significantly more revenue than Spain.

A far fairer and more accurate measure of economic productivity and performance is GDP per capita (which is the total output of the economies GDP divided by the number of people) and on this equalised basis we significantly outperform Spain.

You're right to say that it isn't corporation tax in its own right that will dictate growth or otherwise but to think that it won't damage productivity or impact growth is a complete nonsense.

What he says is true though. You don't see much calling Corbyn a cnut or evil or any of the other shit that's thrown over from the left side of the fence at May. You don't see people on the right calling anyone on the left who votes labour, "a disgrace".

Why all the vitriol from the lefties? Is it years of pent up frustration in opposition, I wonder? Since half of them regard Tony Blair and Gordon Brown as Tories, I suppose some of them have been waiting for 40 years for a Corbyn.
No they just try and convince everyone Corbyn supported terrorism against his own country

The hate against May isn't from just Lefties, it's the fact the Torys squeeze normal people everywhere they can and the services that we all use to the point where only the rich can afford good quality healthcare by private cover and they've put the country at risk in terms of crime (inc. Terrorism), and fire. I heard direct from the mouth of GM Fire and Rescue chief a couple years back the unreasonable cuts they had to accommodate for - a minimum of £9m but we're looking at up to £27m (that's just Greater Manchester). The hate specifically for May (as oppose to Cameron, though Osbourne was always a cnut) comes from her brazen lies and utter bullshit she repeats time and time again - she is the opposite of "for the families that are just about managing" and her only campaign tactic is deceitful, outright lies about the Labour party (how they haven't costed anything and uncontrolled immigration when they have costed where the Tories refuse to provide a figure on anything and they have outlined managed immigration plans, the Tories are still repeating they'll bring in a target of getting non-EU immigration down to 100,000 - They've been saying that for 7 years for fuck sake!).

The Tories are not the right wing vote to deal with immigration which is why so many are voting for them, they have a proven track record of failure because they never intended to follow through on their promises. They're repeating all the same things that have proven lies in the past. They have no morals whatsoever and sell out the country to the highest bidder to benefit their own careers.

Even the little things show her true character, like "Strong and Stable leadership" - she's shit scared to face Corbyn head on in a debate on the election campaign. Can't handle pressure, how's she gonna handle negotiating against a bloc of 27 countries?

Quick question to you.
Who picked up the tab after the global financial crisis of 2008?
Think about it.
