Fixtures for 18/19 season

That's worked out pretty well, assuming we maintain something like our quality from last season (irrespective of points).

By early Dec, we will have already been away to Chelsea, Spurs, Arse & Liverpool. And we don't have any periods where we play 3-4 tough games on the trot (with cup games inbetween) like we usually get.

If we are anywhere close to the top, by mid Dec, the league has a problem (again) & we don't have any big away games (& bent refs) clashing with the big games (& bent refs) in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Provided we don't allow ourselves to be mugged by the domestic cups & pick up lods of injuries & fatigue, (which should be less likely with an improved squad) that gives us a great crack at the two biggest competitions.

We only have to be 'thereabouts' at Christmas really, to be right on course.

We played out best football under Pep in that September-Early December stretch last season as well, playing all those big away games before Christmas might play into our hands if we can hit that kind of form again.

A lot on here need to give there heads a serious wobble, you will wedge conspiracy theory into every announcement/event/news/comment.

Wait until the CL groups are drawn. Despite us being one of the best sides in the competition and now firmly established as one of the main players who nobody will want to be drawn against, some will find a conspiracy somewhere.

Indeed.

I suppose that could be influenced by post World Cup fatigue but most of them will probably crash out earlyish in disappointment anyhow & Brazil will pick some mug instead of Fernandinho.

Difficult start to the season away at Arsenal, but a pretty favourable run of fixtures after that until the trip to Anfield.

Good to get most of our hardest away games out of the way before Christmas. If we're top by then we'll take some stopping.

Oh well, at least it wasn't Liverpool or rags away first game. Hopefully it'll take Arsenal's new manager a while to settle; on the positive side if we win there the next few fixtures should be reasonably winnable (potential banana skin at newly promoted Wolves with a vociferous crowd though).

Nice that over the season there aren't too many tough games in a row, early Feb looks about the worst run of fixtures.

Need to start strong!

It's just the first/last, boxing day/xmas weekend that wobbles my head, did the Rags ever play away first game of the season after they won the league?

What revelation was this mate and where was it revealed?
It was a few weeks ago I read it that it had been leaked that the PL had an agreement with the TV companies that at certain weekends (opening day, final day, Boxing Day I think) that the top 4/6 teams would be kept apart.
