His responses (like from most others Rabin has called out) have been mostly deflection, as this actually is. He’s made unfounded accusations and suggested something he knows will likely never happen for legitimate reasons (debating a random none journalist who had the temerity to look beyond the surface of Harris’ work) in the hopes that they will taint Rabin’s scrutiny and the inevitable dismissal of the challenge will also see Rabin off as a source of sunlight.

This is (ironically?) a classic PR strategy, though, not particularly well executed.
Is that what it is.

I just had him down for a knobhead.

Good question. Possibly not to the same extent, because they were viewed as more part of the establishment than us prior to 2008. More recent big success and a much higher trophy haul, albeit much of it of some antiquity.

I would state, however, that the naked snobbery towards us is both unedifying and a little baffling, given how fondly we were regarded 15 or so years ago.

Just comes down to jealousy and envy.
We are the poor kid that took the fit bird off the rich kid at the school disco, in front of all his mates. There was always going to be retribution.

If they'd done what we have, yes.
Chelsea got plenty of stick when Abramovich came in but nothing on the scale City have received and nothing about Russia's poor human rights record which is off the scale compared to Abu Dhabi. Given that Abramovich is linked to Putin as closely as Sheik Mansour is with the UAE ruling regime this seems a tad unfair. There has not even been much coverage since Abramovich was effectively stopped from doing business in the UK because of his unethical financial reputation.

If ADUG had purchased Everton, do you think we would be seeing the same hysteria and negative stories that we are seeing in regards to us?
If ADUG purchased anybody not called Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool, then there would be outrage regardless. We do have a magnifier though sharing a City and half of a name with United.

He's also refused entry to the UK which is why he's been busy applying for Israeli citizenship (and therefore an Israeli passport) so he can bypass that ban.

I reckon it goes a little beyond that. I think because much of our support is local and working-class there’s definitely an element of institutional snobbery involved in some quarters.
