Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook employs thousands of staff.

The government not bailing them out would be incredibly short sighted.

I wonder if Mike Ashley is lining up a bid?

Due to go New York with these in three weeks time, do have ATOL insurance though as a package hol.

What happens if they go bust?

Do you have to claim the money back and if so how long does that take?

Can take weeks.

Am I wrong, as usual, but I thought that travel firms were covered by ATOL(?) so that there is an insurance system to bring people home. So where has the need for £600m from the government come from?

It’s also an airline and flights alone are not covered by ATOL, nor are airline collapses covered by travel insurance.

Could be wrong but perhaps their employed numbers are what the banks fear over their quiet winter period.
If profit margins are low or even non existent during the busy summer then apart from pay cuts for all where is income coming from?
