Who and what’s to blame?

Sure it's been mentioned but big games, we've gone from being amazing against our rivals, to dismal this season. It's been the area we've won the league the last couple of seasons, and the area we've dropped the majority of our points this season.

3 points from 6 against Chelsea.
1 point from 6 against Spurs (!).
0 points from 6 against United (!!).
0 points from 6 against Wolves.
0 points from 3 against Liverpool.

23 points out of 27 dropped against those teams. 23 points behind Liverpool.
 
It’s a shitter we are looking at having to replace two centre halves rather than one this season. I think Stones will be kept as a home grown spot and Garcia promoted up to next person in behind who ever we spend big money on. A left back is a must I can only see Chilwell as an option but I imagine Leicester will want silly money and then someone who can play up top across either of the positions.

Foden brings a different energy to the team and we need him fizzing round the likes of De Bruyne and Sterling.

That says it all really.... hammering the dross of the league still only gives us 3 points. Need a big improvement against top 6 and this will only happen in my view of the defence is improved
 
Pep gets a lot of credit for Improving players, yet I'm struggling to think of a single defender that Improved under him.

Stones is still shite
Otamendi same diving into every tackle defender he's always been.
Laporte was and still is class
Walker is still the same, quality but brain fart in him
Mendy or Cancelo are not looking like +50mil defenders
Danilo came and went
Kompany was world class anyway
For some reason turned Fernandinho from a world class cdm to an average CB
Delph,Zinc and Kolarov had a position added to their game but they're not better in their makeshift positions as they are in their proper positions.

Angelino looks good at PSV and Leipzig.
 
1: Not signing a replacement for Kompany
2: Sticking with dino in defense when clearly it wasn't working
3: Injuries
4: Lack of home grown defensive replacements (We should have capable youngsters to take on a role than sticking with a make shift replacement. Our young players are talented but the amount of chances they have been given is disappointing.

If we invested in a young player as much as we did in dino at cb, we would have a decent pl defender by now. They are in our system because they are talented, so question of talent isn't there. Foden and Sancho are great examples of what are young talent pool can do)

If Pep had decided to play youngsters last 3 seasons we would not have reached 100 points and quite sure Liverpool would have won the PL last season.
