Who's your Greatest Bass player ever

Man, that is some list.

Jaco has been voted the greatest by bass players many times, I love to listen to Flea talking about him. :)
Thanks and all great, great musicians for different reasons, in my view.

The popular music industry is indebted to these 2 guys:

Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn of Booker T and the MG’s and session musician at Stax records

James Jamerson of Motown

Still can't figure out how Jamerson played Bernadette and you keep me hanging on with just one finger in the right hand - and creating the lines from a skeletal chord chart while essentially a semi-functioning alcoholic!
Some of his less well known lines such as How long has that evening train been gone (supremes), Darling Dear (Jacksons) and I'm Wonderin' (Stevie Wonder) are beyond amazing - up there with the jazz giants like Coltrane imho in terms of creativity.
